Newcastle to Win

Reason for tip

While Burnley’s form has improved somewhat, they still boast the joint-worst home record in the Premier League this term having taken just ten points from the 51 available to them at Turf Moor and a visit of Newcastle, who have won three of their last four in a run which includes a 4-0 thrashing of Spurs, could lead to trouble.

Newcastle 3-1

Reason for tip

A win may be a step too far for Burnley, but both teams to score has been a winning bet in seven of their last eight games as well as five of Newcastle’s last seven on the road, so back the Clarets to net in defeat. The Magpies have netted 15 goals in their last six games, so back the visitors to win comfortably despite conceding.

Alexander Isak To Score Anytime

Reason for tip

Alexander Isak has 19 Premier League goals this term and can continue his hunt for the Golden Boot by bagging against Burnley for the second time this season. The Swede has netted seven times in his last six games and is in red-hot form.

Burnley vs Newcastle Predictions

  • Newcastle have won three of their last four games, recording 4-0 and 5-1 victories in that run
  • Burnley have the joint-worst home record in the Premier League this term having taken just ten points from the 51 available to them at Turf Moor
  • The Magpies have won their last five Premier League meetings with the Clarets

Toon to cause trouble at Turf Moor

Burnley have finally found some form, with their only loss in their last eight games coming against an in-form Everton, but there is a worry that this upturn in results has come too late as the threat of relegation looms.

The Clarets are now just two points off safety but a visit from Newcastle is unlikely to help them shorten that gap to 17th. The Magpies have won three of their last four games, thrashing Spurs 4-0 and Sheffield United 5-1 in that run and they could overpower the Clarets on Saturday.

Vincent Kompany’s men have improved at Turf Moor and are currently on a three-match unbeaten streak on their, but they still have the joint-worst home record in the Premier League – ten points from a possible 51 – and the five points earned in their ongoing run came against Brentford, Wolves and Brighton, three sides with far less attacking talent than Newcastle.

Magpies may have a say in relegation scrap

Eddie Howe’s side have been rampant lately, netting 15 goals in their last six games, and given only Sheffield United (97) and Luton (77) have conceded more times than Burnley (70)  in the Premier League this term, it seems likely the free-scoring Magpies will run riot in Lancashire.

The reverse fixture saw Newcastle run out 2-0 victors to extend their winning run against the Clarets in the Premier League to five games and another victory for the Toon is certainly on the cards this time around.

Newcastle’s form on the road has been inconsistent this term but a 3-1 win at fourth-placed Aston Villa, a 1-0 victory at Fulham, the side with the eighth-best home record in the league and an 8-0 demolition of Sheffield United at Bramall Lane highlight how dangerous they can be on a going day, with Saturday’s trip to Turf Moor shaping up to be one of their more fruitful away days.

Super Swede to continue fine form

A huge reason for Newcastle’s strong end to the season which has put them back in top-six contention has been the form of Alexander Isak, who has netted seven goals in his last six appearances.

The Swedish striker is in the hunt for the Golden Boot, sitting just two goals off current scoring-leader Erling Haaland, and could increase his chances by netting at least once against the Clarets, who have failed to keep a clean sheet in nine consecutive home matches.

Isak netted in the reverse fixture and rates a solid bet to find the net again as Newcastle earn a victory at Turf Moor.
