Marseille may dent Lens’ Euro hopes

Marseille may have enough momentum to dent Lens’ European hopes with a win at Orange Velodrome on Sunday.

Jean-Louis Gasset’s side are unbeaten in three games now and will have an eye on next week’s Europa League semi-final against Atalanta. The dream of landing their first major silverware in over a decade could see one or two players lose focus for this Ligue 1 clash, which must now mean more to the visitors.

Marseille’s 2-2 home draw with Nice in midweek opened the door for Lens to move above Les Aiglons in the race to finish in the top five. It was a peculiar game punctuated by some eccentric refereeing, but Marseille were perhaps unlucky not to take all three points.
