Nottingham Forest vs Chelsea Predictions

  • Forest are three points above the bottom three with two games left to play
  • Chelsea are two points away from European qualification
  • Forest claimed a shock 1-0 victory at Stamford Bridge in the reverse fixture

Hosts can inch closer to survival with point

The late kick-off on Saturday sees Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea travel to the City Ground to face a Nottingham Forest side on the cusp of Premier League safety.

The Tricky Trees secured an important 3-1 victory at already relegated Sheffield United last weekend to move them three points clear of 18th-placed Luton, while the hosts also boast a superior goal difference to the hatters.

Forest go into this meeting having won just one of their last five matches at the City Ground, however their two defeats within this run came in admirable performances against two of the current top three – in the form of Liverpool and Manchester City.

Chelsea could therefore struggle to come away with all three points and their recent form away from their Stamford Bridge home has been poor – with the Blues failing to win any of their last six on the road.

Four of these results have ended all square and three of these draws have come via a 2-2 scoreline. Two of these have come against bottom five sides Sheffield United and Brentford and, against another side in the bottom quarter of the table, a similar result and score could be on the cards.

Hudson-Odoi can haunt previous employers

After scoring a brace at Bramall Lane last weekend, Callum Hudson-Odoi will be brimming with confidence and he will be hoping that he can make the difference against his former club.

The 23-year old hade his debut for the Blues and scored four goals for the London club before joining Forest last summer – after a relatively disappointing loan spell at Bayer Leverkusen.

Hudson-Odoi has already bettered his Chelsea goal tally in one season at Nottingham Forest, with seven goals for the Tricky Trees, and it could be written in the stars that the former Blue scores to help ensure safety for his new side.
