Nantes Double Chance (Win or Draw)

Reason for tip

Brest have failed to win two of their last three home league matches while Nantes have avoided defeat in six of their last seven away Ligue 12 fixtures (4 wins, 2 draws). The home side have shipped 13 goals in their last four games and look hard to trust at odds-on prices in their current defensive state.

Draw 1-1

Reason for tip

Despite Brest shipping 13 times in the last four games, they have conceded a total of only six home goals in seven outings since Christmas. Nantes are not regular scorers of multiple goals on the road, although they rarely concede more than once so a 1-1 draw is predicted.

Les Pirates have sprung a leak

Unless Nantes believe they are already safe on 32 points and do not put in a performance at Brest on Sunday, the hosts should not be favoured for the win in their current state.

Les Pirates remain on course to finish in the top four, but their defensive record has taken a battering in the last four games during which they have conceded 13 times.

Eric Roy’s men required a stoppage-time fifth strike to take all three points at Rennes last weekend after letting the hosts battle back to level from 4-2 down. It was a crazy game, but so many of their matches have been like that of late with two recent 4-3 thrillers since the start of April.

Odds-on hosts look opposable

They look hard to trust at odds-on against a team with such solid away form as Nantes. Les Canaries have won four and drawn two of their last seven road games in Ligue 1 and still probably need a point to be sure of staying in the division.

Antoine Komboare’s men beat fifth-placed Nice on the French Riviera only a few weeks ago and should provide a stern test for the hosts too.

Brest have lost two of their lats three matches and failed to win two of their last three at home, so the recommendation here is to take Nantes to avoid defeat in the double chance market.
