The Golden State Warriors moved to 23-0 after defeating the Indiana Pacers 131-123 on Tuesday night. A season-high 39 points from Klay Thompson and 29 points from Steph Curry guided the Warriors to a 111-83 lead at the end of three. However they then took their foot off the gas and were outscored by the Pacers 40-20 in the final quarter, something they haven’t done this season.
The win not only gives them a 23-0 start to the season but extends their win streak to 27 games dating back to last seasons playoffs.
Record Breakers
Golden State have already broken multiple records this season. With a 111-77 win over the Los Angeles Lakers they set a new record for the best season started in NBA history with a record of 16-0. This surpassed the 1993-1994 Hockets and 1948-1949 Washington Capitals.
After moving to 21-0 with a 112-109 win over the Toronto Raptors, Golden State moved past the St. Louis Maroons, Major League Baseball, for the best start to a season by a professional sports team ever.
At 27 consecutive regular-season wins, the Warriors possess the second-longest streak in NBA history, behind only the 1971-72 Los Angeles Lakers (33). If the Warriors can stay perfect from now until Christmas Eve they will face Lebron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers on Christmas day for the chance to tie the NBA record for consecutive wins. An exciting prospect for us to settle down after some Turkey to see if they Warriors can do it. We’ll have free NBA betting tips for the big game and all other matches on Christmas day so don’t forget to check it out.
Best Regular Season Record
Reports from ESPN’s data simulation have shown the team have a good chance of breaking the all-time regular season record of 72 wins. This was set back in 1995-1996 by the Chicago Bulls and included the likes of Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen and Dennis Rodman. ESPN have predicted there’s a 44% chance that the Warriors will get to 73 regular season wins.
It’s no surpise that they Warriors are 2/1 favourite with Coral to win the NBA championship this year and Steph Curry is 1/3 with Paddy Power to become the regular season most valuable player (MVP).
