33/1 & 80/1 tips for the World Wide Technology Championship

The PGA Tour takes centre stage this week, with no DP World Tour event on the schedule and the LIV Golf circuit in hibernation until February, so golf punters must focus on the World Wide Technology Championship at Mayakoba.

Steve Palmer has sought out some value for FST golf fans in two each-way tips at 33/1 and 80/1 below.

Steve Palmer’s each-way tips for this week’s golf

Viktor Hovland is seeking to win the tournament for a third consecutive year, so the Norwegian ace is a popular choice at 11/1, while Billy Horschel and Aaron Wise are a pair of 18/1 chances who must be respected near the top of the market. For those looking for a bit more juice in their odds, however, wagers on Brandon Wu and Emiliano Grillo are preferred options each-way.

Each-way Best Bet – Emiliano Grillo at 33/1

The 33/1 about Grillo looks a sound bet for an each-way investment. The Argentinian twice finished second on the PGA Tour in July, then was fifth in the Sanderson Farms Championship at the start of last month and fourth in the Zozo Championship. A strong Mayakoba record, including three top-tens, suggests Grillo will feature on the leaderboard this week.

Each-way Outsider – Brandon Wu at 80/1

Wu has settled nicely on the PGA Tour and from March onwards has started to become a title contender. He finished second – behind only Jon Rahm – in the Mexico Open in May. That performance could provide a significant clue as to how Wu does in the Mayakoba event, given the similarities between the two venues. Greg Norman designed both tracks – and they both have paspalum grass fairways and greens.

When Wu made his only previous Mayakoba appearance, he was competing in just his second tournament as a professional, so little could be expected of him. The newcomer managed a creditable share of 55th place. Wu, who finished sixth in a high-class Scottish Open in July, fired a Friday 64 in Bermuda last week and looks an 80-1 outsider worth following in Mexico.
