9/1 Tennis Accumulator Lands on Tuesday Evening!

A very good Tuesday afternoon and evening for us saw us land a 9/1 Tennis Accumulator!

The Tennis Accumulator was made up of 4 legs, and here is how it went.

The first two legs of the accumulator were both being played simultaneously, and they were both close matches. In one, we needed Spaniard Fernando Verdasco to get the better of Pierre-Hugues Herbert. We were confident with this leg, even after Verdasco had dropped the first set, and that was because Verdasco had never lost to Herbert in the past. This faith was repaid, as Verdasco managed to come back and win the final two sets, to give the accumulator a good start.

In the other match being played at the same time, Kei Nishikori was taking on the talented Frances Tiafoe. We needed Nishikori to pick up the win and he duly delivered, although he didn’t make it easy for himself. After taking a comfortable first set, Nishikori had the chance to serve out the match for a straight-sets win. However, Nishikori’s serve was broken and Tiafoe would go onto take the second set. This left us sweating, but Nishikori managed to regroup to win the third set and keep our accumulator alive!

American John Isner was next up for us, and like the previous two matches, it was tight. This was good for us, however, as we needed the American to win the match 2-1. Isner did, in fact, drop the first set, before battling back to level the match at 1-1. The third, and final, set was the closest of the match, and after surviving two match points, Isner finally got over the line to edge the match 2-1. Our Accumulator was now one leg away, and looking good!

It all came down to home favourite Dominic Thiem getting the better of Ruben Bemelmans. We were extremely confident of this coming in, as Thiem finds himself over 100 spots ahead of Bemelmans in the rankings, and so we thought he’d get the job done. Thiem didn’t disappoint us as, in our most comfortable result of the day, the Austrian ace won the match in straight-sets to land us our 9/1 Accumulator!
