Back Joe Champion's massive 322/1 golf each-way double here!

It’s a huge week on the DP World Tour as all 12 members of Luke Donald’s European Ryder Cup squad will tee it up in the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth’s West Course.

While Rory McIlroy, Viktor Hovland, Jon Rahm and the rest battle it out in Surrey, the PGA Tour returns from a brief off-season at the Fortinet Championship at Silverado Country Club in California.

Our golf expert Joe Champion has put together an each-way golf double which pays out at 322/1 priced up with bet365, where new customers can get up to £30 in free bets by signing up below.

BMW PGA Championship winner prediction – Shane Lowry at 18/1

European golf’s big three top the betting for the DP World Tour’s flagship event and it’s hard to see a scenario where at least one of McIlroy, Hovland or Rahm are not fighting it out at the finish.

McIlroy won at Wentworth in 2014, then he finished runner-up in 2018 and 2022, but a sluggish finish in Ireland on Sunday was a surprise and he makes minimal appeal in this stronger field.

Rahm’s DP World Tour record is phenomenal and he’s a two-time Wentworth runner-up from as many visits, but the Spaniard wasn’t at his best in the FedEx Cup playoffs last month.

Hovland certainly was – he did the BMW and Tour Championship double – and the Norwegian teed off in the final group on Sunday at Wentworth last season before eventually finishing fifth.

He’s brimming with self-belief but he could again find himself lagging behind course specialist Shane Lowry, who bounced back to form in his native Ireland last week and appears primed for a successful title defence.

It’s not been a stellar season for the Offaly man but he hit the ball superbly from tee to green when finishing third at the K Club on Sunday, which is the recipe for success at Wentworth, Harry Colt’s tight, tree-lined venue which has tended to separate the best from the chasing pack.

Lowry has course form figures of 2-6-MC-6-15-11-13-17-1 from 2014 onwards and he will not be fazed if he plays alongside any of the big three over the weekend.

Fortinet Championship winner prediction – Sahith Theegala at 16/1

The PGA Tour returns at Silverado, where the Fortinet Championship heralds the start of a revamped campaign which has been effectively split into two halves: the FedEx Fall and, from January, the FedEx Cup.

The FedEx Fall offers the lesser lights a pathway to ‘signature events’ in 2024, although the big names are still eligible to compete including Max Homa, who is chasing a third straight title at the Fortinet.

Homa was in Rome last week getting to grips with Ryder Cup venue Marco Simone Golf Club. He’s the man to beat but that’s far from ideal preparation and there are better bets to be had.

Silverado usually demands tee-to-green precision, but while Sahith Theegala can be wild off the tee, the Californian was still able to finish 14th in this event in 2020 and sixth last season.

Theegala has continued to knock on the door on the PGA Tour, finishing 13th and 15th in the first two events of the FedEx Cup playoffs, and he should go well in his home state.
