Bermuda Championship & Nedbank Challenge tips with 344/1 double!

With two tournaments left of the 2023 season, the DP World Tour is back on South African soil for the Nedbank Challenge, where the presence of American pair Max Homa and Justin Thomas adds further stardust to what was already a strong field at Gary Player Country Club.

There is also PGA Tour action to get stuck into at the Bermuda Championship, which marks the penultimate opportunity to bag a win and, for some, secure their playing rights for next season.

Racing & Football Outlook golf expert Joe Champion has put together an each-way double which pays 344/1. All prices quoted in this article come from bet365 and new customers can take advantage of their sign-up offer using the button below.

Nedbank Challenge winner prediction – Ryan Fox at 14/1

Measuring a monster 7,834 yards, Gary Player Country Club is one of the longest courses in the game and while that is, in part at least, mitigated by high altitude, the Sun City track still represents a tough test for the 72 men in the Nedbank field.

Tommy Fleetwood has mastered the layout, winning the Nedbank in 2019 then successfully defending the title last season following two Covid cancellations, and the Southport man is edging Homa for favouritism this time.

Fleetwood, with the benefit of course experience over his US Ryder Cup rivals, is the one to beat but he hasn’t played since missing the cut at the Dunhill Links, which contrasts with last year when he was in PGA Tour action throughout October.

Sun City is a track for top-class ball-striking and thunderstorms in the build-up to the Nedbank will have only served to make this a more demanding test of tee-to-green prowess, so it’s best to concentrate on big hitters.

Homa should enjoy the layout and was America’s best player at the Ryder Cup but, at double the odds, a better bet comes in the form of Ryan Fox, who finished runner-up behind Fleetwood in the 2022 Nedbank.

Fox has shown he can compete with the very best, winning the BMW PGA Championship in September then finishing runner-up at the Dunhill Links. While he finished down the field in the Andalucia Masters, Gary Player Country Club is a more suitable venue for the long-driving Kiwi.

Bermuda Championship winner prediction – Taylor Pendrith at 22/1

The fifth edition of the Bermuda Championship takes place at Port Royal Golf Course, where Taylor Pendrith looks poised to gain a first PGA Tour win.

Pendrith is not the archetypal Bermuda champion – Port Royal has generally been the domain of shorter, straighter hitters – but the Canadian has found form to finish third at the Shriners and 15th at last week’s World Wide Technology Championship.

The 32-year-old finished fifth on his only previous Bermuda Championship start in 2021 and he also demonstrated his coastal credentials with a top-ten finish at Pebble Beach in February.
