With the news that Rodri is out for the season, Manchester City’s title credentials without their star midfielder are under the microscope at St James’ Park this weekend.
The Citizens’ trips to Newcastle is the standout Premier League clash on Sunday and ahead of the game I’ve picked out a 78/1 fourfold which you can see below.
Newcastle vs Man City Ultimate Bet Builder
Erling Haaland to score 2+ goals
Haaland continued his fantastic start to the season with the opening goal against Arsenal last weekend. The Norwegian has already scored 10 goals in the Premier League this season, scoring twice or more in three of his last four league appearances.
The striker faces off with a Newcastle defence which has been struggling, despite their strong results this season. They’ve conceded the third-most shots per game so far and their Expected Goals Against tally is worse than all but five sides. Haaland could potentially run riot in this contest, so back him to score two or more once again.
Harvey Barnes 1+ shots on target
Despite Newcastle’s defensive struggles, they’ve had big contributions from their forward line. Alexander Isak has had an up-and-down campaign, but winger Harvey Barnes has forced his way into the starting lineup with some strong displays.
Barnes has averaged 0.8 shots on target per game this season, while he leads the team in terms of Expected Goals. The winger has scored in each of his last three league appearances, so he’s good value for a shot on target against a City side who will be more open at the back with Rodri missing.
Bernardo Silva 1+ shots on target
Bernardo Silva has scored five goals across the last six meetings between these two sides and the midfielder should revel in playing behind Haaland. He’s set for a more advanced role with Kevin De Bruyne missing for this trip, so back Silva to have at least one shot on target this weekend.
Joelinton to be carded
Joelinton has already been booked three times in five Premier League appearances this season and the Brazilian has more fouls per game than any other Newcastle player this season.
The combative midfielder is making 2.6 fouls per game this season and with City coming into town that number is likely to increase. The champions are expected to flood central areas with Rodri absent and if Newcastle get outnumbered in the middle, then Joelinton is in line for another caution.
