Before becoming a Sports Journalist for Free Super Tips, Aaron spent three years studying Sports Journalism at the University of Sunderland while taking in the Black Cats' 'glory years' under Martin O'Neill. Now back in Northern Ireland he turns niche stats into predictions for FST, while he's one of the few people on this island who is equally comfortable at Windsor Park and the Aviva.

Last season’s top two meet in a vital clash on Sunday as Arsenal seek to usurp Manchester City at the top of the table. The Gunners came through a big test at rivals Tottenham last week, but can they claim three points at the champions?

Ahead of the big Super Sunday game, I’ve picked out a 116/1 Ultimate Bet Builder featuring five selections for the clash. This tip has been priced up with Betfair and new customers can take advantage of their great introductory offer through the banner below!

Man City vs Arsenal Ultimate Bet Builder

Erling Haaland to score anytime

Haaland may have drawn a blank against Italian champions Inter Milan in midweek, but his return of nine goals in four Premier League goals this term is incredible. He’s netted five of those across two matches at the Etihad and he’s clearly making the most of his summer break.

The forward is a great anytime goalscorer bet on Sunday. While he didn’t net against the Gunners last season, Haaland scored home and away against them in 2022/23, so he kicks off our Ultimate Bet Builder.

David Raya to make 4+ saves

Fresh from his stunning double save in midweek, David Raya will be a busy man once again this weekend. The former Brentford man has saved 14 of the 15 shots on target he has faced in the Premier League this season, making an average of over three saves per game.

The visit to the Etihad is likely to be Raya’s busiest of the league campaign, given that City had 72% of the ball and 12 shots in the meeting between the two in March. City have made a relentless start going forward and they’re averaging six shots on target per game. Raya is a great shot stopper, so back him to make at least four saves.

Manuel Akanji to attempt 90+ passes

As mentioned, City dominated possession in the home meeting between these two last season. They made 700 passes to Arsenal’s 269. The Gunners have allowed both Tottenham and Atalanta to have the majority of possession across the last week, so expect their clash with City to go the same way.

Possession is a tough thing to back in a bet, but Manuel Akanji has been a key figure on the ball for City and I’m backing that to continue. He’s completed at least 90 passes in three of his last four appearances for the Citizens, while he fantastic passing accuracy of 98.4% in the league suggests he’ll be trusted repeatedly.

Akanji has great passing numbers in big games, including attempting over 100 in the draw with Inter and Switzerland’s Euro 2024 clash with England. Back him to see a lot of the ball this weekend.

Savinho to commit 2+ fouls

While Arsenal are likely to be limited on the ball, they will prove to be a threat on the counter down the wings. That could be a problem for Brazilian winger Savinho, who will be asked to track back regardless of which flank he starts on.

The Brazilian has committed two fouls in a game on two occasions for City already. The first of those was in 58 minutes against Manchester United, so a clash with Arsenal could test him even more. He’s made three fouls in three league appearances for City so the winger really stands out at 23/10 to commit two or more fouls.

Kai Havertz to be carded

The final selection in this Ultimate Bet Builder is a booking for Kai Havertz, who has escaped the referee’s notebook through the early stage of the campaign. That’s despite him making eight fouls across his first four Premier League appearances, while he committed three in the visit to Atalanta.

The German was booked 11 times for Arsenal in the league alone last term and he picked up 14 bookings overall. In a high-pressure game, Havertz looks like a great bet to receive a card.
