Big 491/1 double for the Australian PGA Championship and Joburg Open

The old DP World Tour season ended in Dubai last Sunday, with Rory McIlroy topping the standings, and the new one starts this week with the Australian PGA Championship and the Joburg Open.

Steve Palmer has sought out his 491/1 double for FST golf followers below.

Steve Palmer’s each-way double for this week’s golf

The Australian PGA Championship gets going at 8pm Wednesday UK and Ireland time, so each-way double fans need to get their bets on early that then usual Thursday start!

Australian PGA Championship Best Bet – Min Woo Lee each way at 11/1

Lee has ended the year strongly, with third-place finishes in two tournaments in Spain followed by eighth spot in the Nedbank Challenge and 12th in the DP World Tour Championship.

The 24-year-old, a two-time DP World Tour champion, continues to improve and grow in confidence, and he has been licking his lips about this week’s gig in his home country. Lee has been putting well and the only negative against his name is potential fatigue having trekked from Dubai.

The fact he finished fourth at Royal Queensland last year, though, means he knows the course well and has not needed to do much practice in the last couple of days. Sleep has been the priority – and a late first-round tee-time has helped that task – so magic Min Woo should be set for another week on the leaderboard.

Joburg Open Best Bet – Seamus Power each way at 20/1

Lee can be paired with Jayden Schaper, a 21-year-old who could easily develop into his equal.

Schaper can be backed at 40/1 for the Joburg Open, which seems generous when you consider how close he came to making a DP World Tour breakthrough in his homeland in the South African Open at the start of 2020 (finished sixth) and the Alfred Dunhill Championship at the end of that year (finished second).

Schaper was tenth in the 2020 Sunshine Tour Qualifying School at this week’s track – Houghton GC – so he can hit the ground running. Lee and Schaper appeal as a 491/1 double.
