England managed to avoid a humbling exit at the hands of Slovakia in the last 16 of Euro 2024, but they will need to raise their game significantly if they are to overpower an impressive-looking Switzerland side in the quarter-finals on Saturday.
With the big game fast approaching, we called on our team of experts for their best bets ahead of the game and together they form a 138/1 Bet Builder.

138/1 England vs Switzerland Experts’ Bet Builder
Phil Agius – Cole Palmer to have 1+ shots on target
I’m taking something of a leap of faith here on two fronts but I like the chances of Cole Palmer having a shot on target in the match.
The first issue is how long Palmer might get to provide us with a winning bet but after he looked the most lively attacking option against Slovakia after his 66th-minute introduction,England fans can only hope he’s given a better chance to impress against the Swiss.
The other issue is the fact that England had only two shots on target in their entire last-16 game, but they had 16 efforts in all and dominated the corner count 9-1. Palmer looks ready to make his mark on the stats sheet if he gets the opportunity.
Aaron Ashley – Over 8.5 corners
It’s almost certain to be another cagey contest short on goalmouth action but Switzerland provide plenty of width with energetic wing backs and England inherit the services of Bukayo Saka, so over 8.5 corners at 5/6 may be of interest.
Switzerland’s four matches at Euro 2024 have featured 42 corners and their opening game with Hungary was their lowest corner tally during that time with eight.
England, meanwhile, had nine corners in normal time of their last-16 victory over Slovakia while they had six against Slovenia and there simply has to be an upbeat in their performance following some lethargic displays.
Joe Casey – Remo Freuler to be shown a card
No Swiss player has conceded more fouls than Remo Freuler, who has given away nine. The Bologna man could be busy in the centre of the park against an England team that are one of the most fouled teams in the tournament.
Frueler has already been booked once and picked up nine cards in 30 Serie A starts last season, he looks a live candidate to pick up a caution in this match.
Liam Flin – Granit Xhaka to have 1+ shots on target
Nine different players managed shots for Switzerland against Italy in the last 16 and midfield powerhouse Granit Xhaka is worth a bet to have an effort on target against England.
The Bayer Leverkusen talent had a shot on target in each of Switzerland’s group games against Hungary, Scotland and Germany and also managed a shot against the Italians.
He is not afraid to have a crack from distance and attacking opportunities could be in plentiful supply for the Swiss if England defend how they did against Slovakia in the early stages of Sunday’s match.
Jamie Griffith – Dan Ndoye to be shown a card
Dan Ndoye has been one of Switzerland’s standout stars at the tournament, and his hybrid role as a forward and wing-back has seen him in the thick of the action constantly.
He has committed nine fouls – no Swiss player has made more – while he has also been fouled more than any other Red Crosses player too, being brought down on ten occasions.
Being fouled regularly can be frustrating, while he is clearly not shy of being the instigator too. Ndoye was booked in Switzerland’s final group match against Germany and rates a solid bet to be carded against the Three Lions.
