After a dramatic midweek round of Premier League action in which Manchester City took the fate of the title into their own hands, we are being treated to five top-flight games this Sunday.

Plenty of players set to take to the pitch on Sunday are very familiar with their opponents and a few have standout records against their next opposition, so I’ve picked out three players who could make a difference against a familiar foe.

Luke Shaw to be booked

Since his big-money move to Manchester United in 2014, Luke Shaw has picked up 46 yellow cards in the Premier League and an impressive six of those have come against Sunday’s opponents Aston Villa.

He has been booked in five of his last seven competitive meetings with the Villans and the 27-year-old certainly hasn’t been on his best behaviour of late.

He has been booked in five of his last eight appearances for club and country, getting sent off for England and averaging a yellow card every 87 minutes over his last four appearances.

Andreas Pereira to be booked

Former Manchester United midfielder Andreas Pereira is also coming up against a side he has bad blood with and the now-Fulham player could find himself on the wrong side of the referee on Sunday.

Pereira has started three games against Manchester City and come off the bench twice, but still has managed to amass three cautions against the Cityzens, including one in the return fixture at the Etihad in November.

That is one of eight bookings Pereira has picked up in the Premier League this season and, interestingly, he has been booked in two of his three meetings with Manchester-based sides this campaign.

Mohamed Salah to score anytime

Given Mohamed Salah’s goalscoring record since his return to the Premier League, he is often at the top of this list and this weekend is no exception.

The Egyptian has ten goals in 17 meetings with Spurs and scored both goals in Liverpool’s 2-1 win at Spurs in November.

Liverpool’s talisman may be having a disappointing campaign by his own high standards, but he has still scored an impressive 27 goals in 45 appearances for his club this season and has come to life recently, netting seven goals in his last seven starts for club and country.

Salah can punish a Tottenham defence that have let in 11 goals across their last three games.
