GW10 Fantasy Football Tips

Mohamed Salah (Liverpool, £12.8m)

So the Egyptian King hasn’t yet reached the heights he managed last season – and for that reason some would argue he’s not worth his hefty £12.8m price tag – but at the same time he has remained Liverpool’s most dangerous asset. Four goals and two assists see him sat on 50 points – the 3rd highest total of any FPL midfielder – and you must remember that it was around this time last season that Salah really got going too. And after a goal last weekend and a mid-week brace against Red Star in the Champions League, you have to feel more goals are on their way.

A home match against Cardiff City will make sure of that. Cardiff arrive at Anfield having conceded 17 goals over their last six Premier League outings and Neil Warnock’s men have struggled against the top sides in particular – the Bluebirds have conceded 13 goals over four matches against last season’s top six. Notably, three of Salah’s four league goals this season have come at home too, and with more and more Fantasy Premier League managers opting to go without the Egyptian – he’s fallen to just 30% ownership – now might be the time to opt for him.

Kevin de Bruyne (Manchester City, £9.7m)

KDB is back! And he could be a very tidy differential for the coming weeks owned by just 4% of Fantasy Premier League managers. De Bruyne featured off the bench in last weekend’s match against Burnley and was given 69 minutes during the week away to Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League. As many managers know by now, Manchester City players are subject to Pep Guardiola’s rotation, but it’s hard to see the Belgian – arguably City’s best player – being left out of a big game against Spurs on Monday.

Manchester City are firing on all cylinders and though Spurs are in reasonable form it’s hard to see them stopping Pep’s machine – City did score seven goals against them over two matches last season (KDB got one). De Bruyne was the 4th highest scoring player in FPL player last season with 209 points from 8 goals and 18 assists and his stats as a playmaker make him a must have. Jump on board the KDB train early to reap the maximum rewards.

Jamie Vardy (Leicester City, £9.0m)

Jamie Vardy hasn’t been a standout performer this season, and he hasn’t even been among our ones to watch since gameweek 2 – yeh, the game where he was sent off – but that was mostly because of the uncertainty surrounding Leicester City after selling their best asset, Riyad Mahrez, to Manchester City over the summer. Following some promising team performances, Vardy does, in our opinion, look a good option for the coming weeks.

Our worries about Leicester’s creativity in the final third have been extinguished thanks to playmaker James Maddison, who may perhaps not be on the same level as Mahrez, but has been able to provide some quality service going forward. Ben Chilwell and Ricardo Pereira have also proven threats from the sides. And with all of Leicester’s next six matches being rated 3 or lower on the Fixture Difficulty Ranking, you can expect Jamie Vardy to be having some sort of party by the end.

Andrew Robertson (Liverpool, £6.4m)

Raiding left back Robertson has been one of the standout fantasy football defenders so far this season. He’s made the 3rd most key passes (13) from open play among defenders and only Mohamed Salah (17) has a better number within the Liverpool team. The Reds’ concrete defensive form has seen him tally six clean sheets from nine matches – joint top in the Premier League – along with his two assists and 9 bonus points. He now ranks second among defenders and 4th overall based on total FPL points.

Liverpool’s home match against Cardiff begins a run of seven favourable matches that only furthers the Scotsman’s potential – in fact, away to Arsenal is the only fixture ranked higher than 3 on the Fixture Difficulty Ranking (FDR) over that streak. Cardiff have failed to score in their five of their nine Premier League matches so far this season and their 19 goals conceded is the second worst number in the English top flight. Robertson’s combined attacking and defensive proficiency make him one to watch this weekend.

Andre Schurrle (Fulham, £6.0m)

Andre Schurrle’s return to the Premier League has been reasonably impressive given Fulham’s struggle overall struggles. The German has scored four goals in his eight appearances since joining on loan from Dortmund and his 35 points make him the 4th highest scoring FPL midfielder priced £6.0m or lower. And his underlying statistics show how much of a threat he has been in front of goal – Schurrle’s total of 11 shots on target joint with Chelsea’s Eden Hazard (£11.4m).

Schurrle has also been unlucky not to earn any assists. He has created as many as 13 chances for his teammates, as many as Spurs’ Christian Eriksen and Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil. He will take encouragement from Bournemouth’s generally poor record on the road. Over their four away fixtures, the Cherries have kept just one clean sheet and conceded seven goals, including a 4-0 loss at Burnley. He could be a reasonable replacement for someone like Bournemouth’s Ryan Fraser who, after this weekend, has a very tough run of fixtures.
