Fantasy Football Tips 18/19: GW15 Options

A lifelong Birmingham City fan, Tom relocated to Germany for five years after graduating from university, where his interest in the Bundesliga developed. He began writing about and betting on German football for FST in 2016. He's also an avid fantasy football player and closely follows the Premier League and European competitions.

How lucky are we?! Just days after the first Premier League gameweek of December – the first of seven over the Christmas period, but who’s counting? – number two is already upon us. And what else would you want to do after work than watch those fantasy football points roll in?

Gameweek 15 kicks off on Tuesday with three matches at 19:45 before the feature game between Watford and Manchester City at 20:00. Wednesday is the blockbuster day, with six matches on almost simultaneously. Manchester United host Arsenal as the main event there.

What changes to your fantasy football team should you make before then? FST has analysed some of the best long-term and differential options available for Gameweek 15. Find them below.

GW15 Fantasy Football Tips

Raheem Sterling (Man City, £11.5m)

You might have to do a bit of tinkering to get Raheem Sterling into your fantasy football team, but the Englishman should prove a valuable City differential in the coming weeks. Sterling’s goal and 2 bonus points in City’s 3-1 win at home to Bournemouth on Saturday kept him comfortably at the top of the FPL rankings and his performance once again showed his massive threat in front of goal.

Sterling ranks second for both key passes (27) and shots on target (16) within the City squad as well, behind only David Silva (34) and Sergio Aguero (19) respectively, so he is arguably the most desirable “all around” City asset. And unlike a player like Aguero, Sterling seems to be more immune on away days – 40 of Sterling’s 104 points (38%) have been earned on the road compared to 15 of Aguero’s 82 points (18%). City travel to Watford on Tuesday.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (Arsenal, £11.0m)

After a sluggish start to the 18/19 Premier League campaign, Aubameyang looks as dangerous as ever. His brace in the North London derby on Sunday took him to 10 goals total – top of the Premier League goalscoring charts – and when combined with his assist and three bonus points earned him a massive 16 point haul. Nobody can say now that his form in the second half of last season was a fluke.

He’s the third highest scoring player in the game and is also averaging a massive 6.5 points per game – what would have been the second-best average among forwards last season. His 12 shots on goal since gameweek 10 places him high up the rankings among Fantasy Premier League forwards. He should be able to maintain those numbers against a poor Manchester United defence – no team in the top half of the Premier League has conceded more.

Dele Alli (Spurs, £8.9m)

Spurs had moments of genius in the North London derby, but Pochettino’s men were largely disappointing, especially after such strong performances against Chelsea and Inter Milan. Alli was a player who failed to make much of an impact – in fact, he made just six second-half passes against the Gunners – but don’t let that deter you from his potential over the coming weeks. We all know what he is capable of.

Alli needs no introduction, with three stellar seasons of Premier League (and Fantasy Premier League) football under his belt. He marked his return from injury with a massive 13-point haul last time out at Wembley after all. And if there’s any match in which you’d expect the Englishman to bounce back again it would be at home to Southampton, who have just sacked manager Mark Hughes. Spurs also face just one of the ‘big six’ over their next 13 Premier League outings.

Felipe Anderson (West Ham, £7.0m)

Felipe Anderson has become more and more influential for the Hammers as the season has gone on. He bagged his fourth in four matches last weekend away to Newcastle, a goal that also earned him two bonus points, and his underlying stats show why he’s now arguably the best West Ham asset. His 25 key passes are more than any other teammate and his 11 shots on goal are second only to fan-favourite Marko Arnautovic (16).

Cardiff’s defensive record on the road only furthers his potential for Tuesday. Only Burnley (94) and Fulham (91) have seen more shots on target against them in away matches than Neil Warnock’s side. With Anderson’s numbers on the rise – he’s registered 10 shots on goal in his last four Premier League outings, more than double the number he managed over his first ten (9) – he’s the favourite to find a way past a Bluebird’s defence which has conceded ten goals over their last four away days.

Lucas Digne (Everton, £4.9m)

Everton’s Lucas Digne has been one of the most impressive creators in the Premier League this season to have gone under the radar! Digne’s 23 key passes rank him 13th overall in that regard, but notably, rank him top among defenders – Watford’s Jose Holebas is close behind (22). He’s also on the majority of left-footed corners and free-kicks. No question then that he’s been unlucky to have earned just one assist so far.

Digne’s desirability as a Fantasy Premier League asset has been boosted in the past few weeks thanks to Everton’s improving defensive form. The Toffees have conceded just one goal over their last three matches, which includes trips to Chelsea and Liverpool, and Marco Silva’s side now has a relatively favourable run ahead, starting with back-to-back home games against Newcastle and Watford.
