The world of Formula One is gearing up for the summer break, but there is still the small matter of the Belgian Grand Prix to contend with this weekend and there is plenty at stake.

A Max Verstappen meltdown and a one-two finish for McLaren has left neutrals with a glimmer of hope that there may be a World Drivers’ Championship battle on the cards. With the Dutchman set to take a grid penalty this weekend, that title fight could edge closer to reality if McLaren can maintain their dominance.

Belgian Grand Prix betting tips & predictions

Lando Norris to win at 1/1

Lando Norris let his teammate pass him for his maiden Formula One win in Hungary last weekend but the Briton could find himself back on the top step of the podium this Sunday.

He finished two-tenths up on anyone in Free Practice 2, while Oscar Piastri was second in the standings, showcasing the pace advantage this McLaren has right now.

Rain is forecast for Saturday’s qualifying session, and the McLarens showed extraordinary pace in the wet at Silverstone, while Max Verstappen’s grid penalty further clears the way for Norris.

Norris has beaten his teammate in nine of the 13 Grands Prix this season and looks a good bet to grab his second Formula One win at Spa.

Both McLarens to finish on the podium at 8/11

The McLaren duo topped the timing charts in FP2 ahead of Max Verstappen in third, with the Ferrari of Charles Leclerc over half-a-second off the pace on Friday.

Norris and Piastri completed a one-two finish around the Hungaroring last weekend and have the machinery to share the podium once more.

Lewis Hamilton to finish on the podium at 3/1

Lewis Hamilton was a disappointing tenth in FP2 but rain is expected during qualifying and the seven-time world champion excels in the wet.

He finished fourth around Spa last season and has nine podiums in his last 11 Belgian Grands Prix, while the relatively cool conditions forecast on Sunday should favour the Mercedes as they battle Ferrari and Red Bull for the podium positions.

Under 5 second winning margin at 4/6

The 2023 season saw Max Verstappen win by a landslide almost every weekend, but things have changed as the chasing pack have caught up and we are being treated to much closer racing this year.

Only one of the last seven Grands Prix – Charles Leclerc’s triumph in Monaco – has seen a winning margin of greater than five seconds, and five of these margins were under three seconds.

The average winning margin over this period is 2.782 seconds, so expect another close battle for the lead on Sunday.
