FST’s Fantasy Football tips for GW11: Fears over Kane & Man City rotation

Now back in Northern Ireland he turns niche stats into predictions for FST, while he's one of the few people on this island who is equally comfortable at Windsor Park and the Aviva.

If you’re like me, you’ve been in an FPL panic in recent days. With our Aston Villa assets taken off the board and now doubts over Harry Kane, stringing together an FPL 11 is tricky on its own.

This isn’t the most forgiving weekend of fixtures, so it’s hard to know where to turn. Luckily we’ve run through Gameweek 11 to find the best transfers, fixtures and captaincy options.

Squad depth is our priority this weekend, so we’ve got options to present to you. With Man City’s wanted talents at risk of rotation and Harry Kane in a race to be fit, we’ve got you covered to help plot a successful course in this gameweek.

Don’t forget that you can get a more in-depth look at each match this weekend in our Premier League predictions.

Fantasy Football Fixtures to Target

Target

Chelsea vs Leeds

Chelsea rested stars in Seville and they’ll hope that pays off as fans return to Stamford Bridge. With Leeds scoring only three times in four league games, Chelsea’s improving defence should get a boost.

Avoid

Burnley vs Everton

We understand the temptation to stock up on Everton options this weekend following Burnley’s City collapse. However, that could be more of a one-off. Burnley’s approach rarely holds against City, while the Clarets have largely overperformed in terms of their expected goals conceded.

Fantasy Football Transfer Tips this Week

A spin of Pep roulette

Last weekend we wrote about taking a gamble on a Man City masterclass. That did come to pass, so we’re now rotating our City players in a way that would make Guardiola himself proud.

City’s deep squad leaves you taking a risk backing them in FPL, but this weekend we’ve gone triple City and stocked our bench with good sub options. First up, Ruben Dias (5.6million) has played City’s last seven games. With City’s defence arguably a better long term prospect than their attacking stars, we think it’s worth adding Dias to your backline.

Further up the field, we’ve made the no-brainer option of adding Kevin De Bruyne (11.7m). Our triple City approach is completed with Phil Foden (6.5m). He’s the biggest rotation risk of the bunch, but he’s a cheap way into City’s front four.

A Blue day for the defence

Joining Dias in our blue wall at the back are arguably the three best defensive assets in the game right now. They may all play for Chelsea, but we aren’t letting that stop us.

Edouard Mendy (5.2m) is picking up more points per game than any other FPL goalkeeper. Ahead of him, full-backs Reece James (5.1m) and Ben Chilwell (6.2m) are performing incredibly well.

Both James and Chilwell are getting up the pitch to put themselves into attacking positions. They’ve also been landing clean sheets, which is expected to continue against a Leeds outfit who have scored only three times in their last four games.

Cheap Kane cover

Jose Mourinho’s bullishness about Kane’s fitness ahead of the North London derby was reassuring, but we’re keeping our options open. We obviously don’t want to break the bank on a Kane alternative, so we’ve found a cut-price option.

Danny Welbeck (5.5m) has played in Brighton’s last 180 minutes and he looks like their first choice forward now. With 14 points from his last two games Welbeck is starting to deliver for the 0.4% of players who own him.

While he’s not an elite forward, Welbeck is a great bench option who will get minutes. With Southampton up next for the Seagulls, he’s expected to get some points too. He’s our first sub in case Kane or our City trio don’t make it.

Who to Captain in GW11

Kevin De Bruyne

Sometimes in FPL it’s good to not overcomplicate things. Few players in FPL history can match the achievements of Kevin De Bruyne, while Fulham have looked like one of the worst sides in the league.

With City fresh from a 5-0 win over Burnley, the goals are back at the Etihad. A similar result against Fulham can’t be ruled out. The Citizens will have De Bruyne at the heart of whatever they do on Saturday, so we expect another masterclass from the Belgian.
