Gervonta Davis vs Ryan Garcia predictions & tips with 10/1 boxing treble

Gervonta Davis and Ryan Garcia meet in Las Vegas on Saturday night in one of the most anticipated fights of the year as the two unbeaten stars go head-to-head.

The fight is billed as ‘It Doesn’t Get Any Better Than This’ and that is a fair assessment of what fans may be able to expect – despite the fact there are no titles on the line in this catchweight meeting. Davis is a three-weight world champion with 28 wins and 26 KOs on his record, while Garcia has won all of his 23 outings and 19 of those victories have come inside the distance.

We’ve got the main event covered, as well as a 10/1 treble covering the undercard.

Where to watch Davis vs Garcia

This 12-round lightweight bout will take place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Saturday, April 22.

The main card is scheduled to start at around midnight UK time, and it will either be a late night or an early morning for fans in the UK with the ring walks for the main event expected at around 5am on Sunday morning.

The event will be broadcast on streaming service DAZN and their coverage will start at 2am on Sunday in the UK. The fight isn’t a PPV clash in the UK but does require a subscription at a cost of £9.99 per month to watch the bout live at DAZN.com or via the DAZN app. There is no obligation to sign-up for any period of time and fans can simply purchase a one month subscription if they choose.

Davis vs Garcia prediction and fight preview

On paper, this is the very definition of a 50-50 match-up and you can make a case for any number of outcomes. Can Garcia handle Davis’ power and the constant pressure he puts his opponents under? How will ‘Tank’ cope with Garcia’s significant size and reach advantage? Both men are still fairly young, Davis is 28 and Garcia is 24, and neither has really come up against an opponent of this type before. These are the sorts of issues that make this fight such a fascinating match-up.

Davis is the heavy favourite and he does have the kind of speed and reflexes that could allow him to close the distance and unload some big shots on Garcia.

‘KingRy’ has been sent to the canvas, against Luke Campbelll two years ago, but he got up and won that fight in the seventh round. A lot has been made of that incident in the build-up to this showdown but it is worth pointing out that Campbell is a similar height to Garcia – while Davis will have to find a way to cope with that difference in size.

Davis has been caught by opponents previously and none of the fighters he’s faced have had the same kind of hand speed as Garcia. The Los Angeles native has managed to dominate smaller opponents throughout his career and it could be a similar scenario, if a little more uncomfortable than usual, against Davis on Saturday.

As I’m seeing this as a 50-50 clash, it makes sense to go with the underdog and at 41/20 a win for Garcia is simply too hard to ignore. If he can use his significant height and reach advantages it may become too difficult for Davis to create the openings he will need to win this bout, particularly if Garcia is able to find his range and unload a few big shots himself early on.

Saturday’s Boxing Treble

Ryan Garcia to win
Vs Gervonta Davis

David Morrell Jr vs Yamaguchi Falcao
Over 5.5 rounds

David Morell is the huge favourite in this title fight and for good reason. The American has fought eight times and managed seven stoppages, but Brazil’s Yamaguchi Falcao represents a tough challenge. Falcao has never been stopped and has only lost once in a 26-fight career, and he should be able to last at least six rounds.

Bektemir Melikuziev vs Gabriel Rosado
Over 5.5 rounds

Bektemir Melikuziev faces the only man to beat him so far as the Uzbekh southpaw comes up against Gabriel Rosado. That first meeting ended in a third round stoppage but Melikuziev should be expected to take some revenge as Rosado has lost all three of his outings since and ‘Bully’ is on a four-fight winning streak. However, Rosado has only been stopped four times despite losing 16 of his 43 professional bouts and he hasn’t been beaten inside the distance since 2014, so he should be able to reach the sixth round.
