116/1 golf double for the Tour Championship & Italian Open

The Tour Championship takes place this as the PGA Tour season reaches a conclusion and on the European Tour the Italian Open gets underway on Thursday.

We’ve lined up a juicy 116/1 double with a winner selection from each tournament as golf’s biggest stars head to East Lake in Georgia and a host of hopefuls line-up to battle it out for the top prize at Marco Simone Golf and Country Club in Rome.

You can see our two winners selections below, and make sure to check out our dedication Golf Tips section too.

Tour Championship & Italian Open winners double

The Tour Championship, the PGA Tour season finale, determines who lifts the FedEx Cup.  It is a winner takes all situation – the Tour Championship victor also gets the FedEx Cup. The 30 runners tee off in the Tour Championship at East Lake, Georgia, with handicaps depending on their position in the FedEx Cup standings.

That means Patrick Cantlay, first in the FedEx list, starts the Tour Championship on ten under par. Tony Finau, in second spot, is eight under par on the first tee at East Lake. Those languishing 26th to 30th in the standings will start the Tour Championship ten shots behind Cantlay.

It is a fascinating punting puzzle, and one which world number one Jon Rahm can solve for us. Rahm, fourth on the FedEx starting grid, is only four shots behind Cantlay and can easily overcome that deficit over 72 holes. East Lake is a ball-strikers’ track – a tough, tight, demanding par-70 – and nobody in the game has been exhibiting more tee-to-green control over the last few months than Rahm.

The Spaniard would almost certainly be on a streak of seven top-ten finishes in a row had a positive Covid test not ended his Memorial Tournament after three rounds.

The US Open champion is by far the most attractive option for FedEx Cup glory and the general 7/2 chance can be placed in a juicy 116/1 double with Italian Open 25/1 fancy Guido Migliozzi.

Fourth place behind Rahm in the US Open at Torrey Pines showed what great strides Migliozzi has made this year – that effort followed runner-up finishes in the Qatar Masters, British Masters and Made In Himmerland – and the two-time European Tour champion is bursting with confidence going into his national Open this week. Ruthless Rahm and gutsy Guido can bring home the bacon.
