How to back these odds-on FA Cup favourites in a 20/1 treble

Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea are all involved in FA Cup fifth round ties this week and all go into their respective games as the heavy favourites.

City are just 1/10 to win at Championship strugglers Peterborough United, Chelsea are 4/11 to win at Luton and Liverpool are 1/6 to beat visitors Norwich after overcoming the Canaries 3-1 in the Premier League at Anfield just two-and-a-half weeks ago.

As a treble, straightforward wins for the three Premier League giants doesn’t even pay out at evens but there are ways to squeeze bigger prices out of these cup games.

I’ve put together an alternative treble using the tips from our FA Cup Match Predictions that pays out at a far more appealing 20/1. Read on to see how to back the big guns at odds against prices, either as single selections or in this multiple bet.

20/1 FA Cup Favourites Treble Tip

Back Man City to win with both teams to score at 15/8

Peterborough are in the midst of a woeful run in the second tier but they may be able to deny City a clean sheet when they entertain the Premier League pacesetters. Pep Guardiola’s men have conceded in both of their FA Cup ties this term, against League Two Swindon and Fulham of the Championship, and going back a bit further they haven’t managed a clean sheet in their last four games in this competition against teams outside of the Premier League.

This is essentially a ‘free shot’ of a game for Posh as no one is expecting them to get any kind of result and it should provide a welcome relief from their league struggles. Guardiola is likely to rotate and that may mean City aren’t quite the slick defensive unit were are used to seeing week-in, week-out, in the Premier League so there is a chance the hosts will be able to find a way through on Tuesday.

Back Chelsea to win by exactly one goal at 13/5

Chelsea have what could be considered the toughest task of our three Premier League heavyweights as they face a trip to in-form Championship side Luton Town. The Blues are 1/1 to win with a -1 handicap, but we’ve opted for a 2-1 win for the visitors and a win for the Stamford Bridge side by exactly one goal looks a strong option at 13/5.

Thomas Tuchel’s men go into this game on the back of penalty heartache in the EFL Cup final, and may be a little fatigued after being dragged through extra time and ultimately falling short on Sunday. They should still have the quality to win, but three of their last five wins have been by one-goal margins and as Luton have only lost twice in their last 15 games the visitors are unlikely to come away with a huge win on Wednesday against the Championship promotion hopefuls.

Back Liverpool to win and over 3.5 goals at 21/20

Liverpool were also involved in that EFL Cup final but fatigue is generally less of an issue for the team that comes away with the win and looking at the goals markets in their game against Norwich could be the way to go.

The Reds beat Norwich in a game with over 3.5 goals in February and there have been at least four goals scored in four of their last seven wins. Norwich have lost each of their last three and over 3.5 goals has landed in two of those fixtures, so this looks the best way to get extra value out of this FA Cup mismatch.
