Huge 4,094/1 winners treble for this week's golf tournaments

Three high-profile golf tournaments take place this week with the PGA superstars heading to Muirfield Village Golf Club, Ohio, for the Memorial Tournament, the DP World Tour travels to Germany for the European Open and there’s Major action at the Women’s US Open, which will be staged at Pine Needles Lodge & Golf Club.

The Memorial Tournament is one of the most prestigious events on the PGA Tour and there is every chance that Rory McIlroy will add this illustrious prize to his CV by winning Jack Nicklaus’ event at Muirfield Village this weekend.

McIlroy has, somewhat surprisingly, never claimed this title but he has four Memorial top-ten finishes to his name and Muirfield Village, a course that rewards high-quality ball-striking, is a perfect fit for the Northern Irishman.

Tiger Woods has won the Memorial five times, while Patrick Cantlay, Jon Rahm and Collin Morikawa are all recent Muirfield Village winners, which tells us that this is a course which tends to sort out the wheat from the chaff.

McIlroy finished runner-up at the Masters, fifth at the Wells Fargo and eighth at the US PGA in his last three starts and, having dialled in his approach play recently, he looks sure to go well.

On the DP World Tour, Adrian Meronk looks ready to capitalise on month’s of solid play by claiming his maiden title at the Porsche European Open.

Tommy Fleetwood leads the market at Green Eagle Golf Courses in Hamburg but Meronk rates a much more appealing bet having recorded four top-six finishes in his last five DP World Tour starts, including when third at the Dutch Open last week.

Jin Young Ko heads the betting in the second women’s Major of 2022 but Pine Needles is a long, difficult course which could play into the hands of US powerhouse Lexi Thompson.

Thompson may have mental hurdles to overcome in Majors – she only has one to her name, the 2014 Kraft Nabisco Championship – but she is a top-quality ball-striker who has posted LPGA results of 6-2-38-4-13-2 this season and looks sure to be in the mix again.

Combining McIlroy (12/1), Meronk (20/1) and Thompson (14/1) creates a 4094/1 treble.
