Huge 528/1 Cazoo Classic & 3M Open winners double
This week the DP World Tour action comes from the UK in the shape of the Cazoo Classic and on the PGA Tour we have the 3M Open to look forward to in Minnesota.
Racing Post golf expert Joseph Champion has picked his winners for each event and as his selections combine for a huge 528/1 double, which he recommends backing as an each-way bet.
528/1 Golf each-way double
After all the thrills and spills of the 150th Open Championship, this week the DP World Tour remains in the UK to contest the Cazoo Classic at Hillside Golf Club, Southport, while the PGA Tour action comes from Minnesota and TPC Twin Cities, which hosts the 3M Open.
We’ve picked out the potential winners for each event which can be combined for a massive 528/1 double, advised as an each-way bet.
The 2021 Cazoo Classic took place at London Golf Club but the 2022 event will instead take place at Hillside, a coastal links course which was previously the scene of the 2019 British Masters, won by Sweden’s Marcus Kinhult.
Robert MacIntyre, a runner-up at Hillside three years ago, heads the market but he could be upstaged by another Scandinavian with Denmark’s Thorbjorn Olesen nominated as the best bet for the Cazoo.
Olesen, a European Ryder Cup player in 2018, has gone through a difficult spell in the years since but, having shown signs of life earlier in 2022, the 32-year-old returned to winning ways at the Belfry when he won the British Masters in May.
His form again dropped off after that victory but his last two starts have been encouraging with eighth place in the Irish Open followed by 30th in the high-class Scottish Open. He also boasts stacks of form on links and coastal courses, including a win at the 2015 Dunhill Links.
Complete the double with Adam Hadwin, who has been in excellent form this year and looks ready to win again by claiming the 3M Open.
The Canadian missed the cut when last seen at the John Deere Classic at the beginning of July but he’d previously finished seventh at the US Open – one of four PGA Tour top-ten finishes since mid-March.
Hadwin has an excellent chance of going deep in the upcoming FedEx Cup playoffs and a victory at TPC Twin Cities would offer him an excellent chance of making the 30-man field for the Tour Championship.
His sole PGA Tour victory came at the 2017 Valspar Championship but he’s gone close in two previous 3M outings, finishing fourth in 2019 and sixth in 2021.
