Saturday’s Bundesliga predictions with 57/1 acca

Union Berlin vs Bayer Leverkusen

Best bet – Union Berlin double chance – ⭐⭐

Union Berlin come into this campaign after a successful first season back in Germany’s top flight. They will be hoping to build on their seventh-place finish last year and will have European aspirations on their mind as well.

They won all but one of their pre-season friendlies and are unbeaten since May, while Bayer Leverkusen had a mixed bag in their friendlies but were impressive against lower-league Lokomotiv Leipzig in their DFB Pokal tie last weekend.

The two sides met towards the end of the last campaign and fought out a 1-1 draw and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Union get something from this game again.

Arminia Bielefeld vs SC Freiburg

Best bet – Freiburg to win – ⭐⭐

Arminia Bielefeld enjoyed their first season back in the top-flight for over ten years. There were some tough times as they finished one position above the relegation play-off spot, but all in all it can be classed as a success for such a small club.

They come here on the back of a mixed pre-season, with a win against Hannover masking some poorer results, namely their loss to third division Verl. They have since won in the DFB Pokal to restore a bit of confidence.

SC Freiburg also managed a win in their first competitive game of the season against Wurzburger Kickers and while last season’s tenth-place finish was a slight disappointment they are worthy favourites for this game against a side that lost four of their final eight home league games last season.

FC Augsburg vs Hoffenheim

Best bet – Both teams to score – ⭐⭐

Augsburg’s end of season home form was crucial in keeping them alive in the Bundesliga, with three wins and just one defeat in their final six games at the WWK Arena. One of these wins came against Hoffenheim in April and that was the last time the visitors were beaten in competitive football.

Both sides won their DFB Pokal games to open the new domestic season but the fact both of them conceded two goals to lesser opposition bodes well for a BTTS bet.

Hoffenheim saw goals at both ends in each of their last five league matches last season and a similar outcome is expected.

Stuttgart vs Greuther Furth

Best bet – Greuther Furth double chance – ⭐⭐

Stuttgart are the current ‘yo-yo’ club of German football and they could find it difficult to start the new season with a win on Saturday. The hosts have not survived for two successive campaigns in the top flight for seven seasons and while they did have a good pre-season they come up against a worthy away side here.

Greuther Furth’s away record last season was astounding as they picked up more points on the road than at home. They lost just one of their final seven trips in their promotion-winning campaign and Stuttgart ended last term with three defeats from their final four home games.

Wolfsburg vs Bochum

Best bet – Bochum double chance – ⭐⭐

The away side have enjoyed a successful run over pre-season and looking back to their league campaign last year. They won ten of their last fifteen games as they lifted the 2. Bundesliga title.

Wolfsburg, on the other hand, conceded 13 goals in their six pre-season games and they ended last season rather poorly, losing three of their final four home league games but still clinging on to a top four finish.

The newly promoted visitors are a better bet than you might think. They won three of their final four away games in the 2. Bundesliga and they have only lost two of their last six competitive meetings with Wolfsburg.

Borussia Dortmund vs Eintracht Frankfurt

Best bet – Borussia Dortmund to win & both teams to score – ⭐⭐

Borussia Dortmund will be hoping they can bridge the gap to Bayern Munich this season after a few bad spells last term left them 14 points adrift of the reigning Bundesliga champions.

They did improve towards the end of the season as they won 32 of their final 45 available and while they have lost Jadon Sancho they are still one of the best sides in the division.

Frankfurt opened their campaign with a DFB Pokal defeat to third division side Mannheim last week and the loss of their manager and top scorer over the summer could hinder their progress.

Dortmund have won and conceded in their last three league games and with Frankfurt seeing both teams score in their last four Bundesliga outings an entertaining home win is expected.

Sunday’s Bundesliga predictions

Mainz vs RB Leipzig

Best bet – RB Leipzig to win to nil – ⭐⭐

Mainz stormed away from the relegation zone as they lost just one of their final 11 Bundesliga games but they could find it difficult to maintain that level of performance against a talented RB Leipzig side.

The visitors finished second to Bayern Munich last season and opened their campaign with a 4-0 win over Sanhausen in the DFB Pokal last weekend. They dropped off towards the end of last season but still ended with the best defensive record in the league.

They only conceded 32 goals all season and with Mainz failing to score in almost 30% of their league games backing the visitors to win to nil is a good option.

Cologne vs Hertha Berlin

Best bet – Under 2.5 goals – ⭐⭐

Cologne and Hertha Berlin both ended last season fairly strongly as they lost just one apiece in their final five league games but goals were not easy to come by for these two underperforming sides.

They scored just 75 Bundesliga goals between them last term and both of their meetings last season ended goalless. Hertha scored just five goals in their final six home games and another dull affair is expected on Sunday.
