The first major of the golf season is here, the 80th US Masters. Played at Augusta National Golf Club, Georgia, the Masters brings a prize total of a whopping £10 million, with the winner earning a cool £1.8 million!

Here at Free Super Tips, we’ve crunched the key stats and trends ahead of the first tee off in this handy infographic.

The past 20 or so years haven’t been too kind for European golfers at the Masters. Did you know that the last time a European won the Masters was in 1999, when Jose Maria Olazabal donned the green jacket? It’s a damming stat for Europeans, even for Rory McIlroy who’s going for a career Grand Slam and is well fancied by many. If he does manage to finally win the US Masters, he’ll be the first European to achieve the feat and join a host of legendary names such as Tiger Woods and Jack Nicklaus.

It’s notable too that no US Masters champion has regained the Green Jacket since Tiger Woods in 2002 and that no World Number One has won the major for 14 years. Check out our piece on the Masters Curse here.
