League One predictions, betting tips and best bets
Charlton Athletic vs Swindon Town
FST predictions: both teams to score
Charlton’s last league game at The Valley was a pulsating 4-4 draw with Rochdale and there should be more entertainment when Swindon land at the same venue on Saturday.
The Robins claimed an impressive 3-2 win at Ipswich in their last away game, marking their fifth assignment in a row where both teams found the net. Expect the net to ripple at both ends again.
Ipswich vs Peterborough
FST predictions: Peterborough to win
Ipswich started the season in brilliant shape at Portman Road, however, a run of four defeats in their last five home games – including losses to promotion rivals Hull, Charlton and Portsmouth – has severely dented their confidence.
Peterborough are also involved in the promotion shuffle and they can continue their excellent form with a win over the Tractor Boys in Suffolk.
Lincoln City vs Northampton
FST predictions: Lincoln City to win
With a return of three victories and one draw from their last four League One assignments Lincoln are pushing hard towards the top of the table, and the Imps look capable of claiming another three points at home to Northampton on Saturday.
Town have recorded just one win from six attempts, and having been tossed around in a 4-0 reverse to Lincoln last month, another defeat looks a likely outcome in Saturday’s do-over.
Oxford United vs Bristol Rovers
FST predictions: Oxford United to win
Oxford’s superb 5-1 win at Burton last time out was their fourth League One victory on the spin and they should be able to harness their powerful head of steam to keep the good results coming against Bristol Rovers this week.
A sequence of three defeats in four has sent the Pirates hurtling towards murky waters, and they look ill equipped to trade blows with an Oxford team in red-hot form.
Portsmouth vs Hull City
FST predictions: under 2.5 goals
Two of League One’s main title contenders clash at Fratton Park where a tight top-of-the-table contest looks likely.
Hull are usually one of the most dangerous attacking teams in the division, however, Pompey have the best defensive record in the league and they tamed the Tigers with a 2-0 away win just before the New Year.
Sunderland vs Shrewsbury
FST predictions: under 2.5 goals
Shrewsbury won four of their last five League One matches before the turn of the year and they defended like lions in their 2-0 FA Cup defeat away to Premier League side Southampton in mid-week.
The Shrews look capable of making life difficult for a Sunderland side who have bagged just four goals in their last five home matches.
