Pebble Beach and Ras al Khaimah tips with 208/1 winners double

This week’s PGA Tour action comes from San Diego as a quality field will contest the Pebble Beach Pro-Am, while the Ras al Khaimah Championship takes place on the DP World Tour.

We’ve called on Racing Post golf expert Steve Palmer once again for his tips and together they combine for a 208/1 double, which as always he recommends backing as an each way bet.

208/1 Pebble Beach Pro-Am & Ras al Khaimah Championship double

The DP World Tour stays in the Middle East this week, moving from Dubai to Ras al Khaimah, while the PGA Tour stays in California, moving from San Diego to Pebble Beach.

Each-way double fans have the Ras al Khaimah Championship and the Pebble Beach Pro-Am to attack, while more ambitious punters can throw the Asian Tour’s Saudi International into the mix for an enormous-odds treble.

The preferred strategy is a 208/1 each-way double on Nicolai Hojgaard for the Ras al Khaimah Championship and Matt Fitzpatrick for the Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

Hojgaard, the defending champion, can be backed at 18/1 to retain his title.

The Danish dude destroyed the Al Hamra course in last year’s event, reaching 24 under par to triumph by four shots, and he has started his 2023 campaign in tremendous ball-striking form.

A share of top-scorer honours in the Hero Cup was followed by tenth place in the Abu Dhabi Championship.

Padraig Harrington has described Hojgaard as the most impressive driver he has ever seen – and that long-game class may prove decisive at Al Hamra again.

Pebble Beach has been softened by heavy recent rain and is playing longer than usual, but that will not worry Fitzpatrick, who has added incredible amounts of distance on to his drives over the last couple of years.

The Englishman finished sixth in this event last year and has since become a Major champion, winning the US Open in fine style last summer.

With question marks over the putting form of Jordan Spieth – and Viktor Hovland’s chipping weakness likely to be exposed around the small Pebble Beach greens – it is 10/1 chance Fitzpatrick who may emerge as the dominant force in the popular California pro-am. Fitzpatrick’s short-game class counts for plenty at Pebble Beach.
