Premier League Boxing Day betting tips
Leicester City vs Manchester United
Leicester City’s confidence should be peaking following their fine win and performance at Tottenham last time out, and with top spot in their sights, the flying Foxes will be ready to attack from the off against Man Utd.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side are lethal counter punchers however, and having seen both teams score in 100% of their away assignments this term, we expect a similar outcome when the Red Devils trade blows with a City team pushing for victory.
Betting Tip: Both teams to score @8/15
Aston Villa vs Crystal Palace
Aston Villa remain one of the Premier League’s potent away teams, however, at Villa Park, the Villains continue to toil, and having shipped 11 goals in their last five matches in the Midlands, we expect Dean Smith’s side to concede again.
The Eagles have kept just one clean sheet in 14 Premier League fixtures however, and while we expect them to impact the scoresheet at the right end on Boxing Day, their chances of keeping a creative Villa team at bay for 90 minutes feel incredibly slim.
Betting Tip: Both teams to score @4/6
Fulham vs Southampton
Things are suddenly looking up for relegation candidates Fulham following an improved run of just one defeat in five Premier League skirmishes, though the Cottagers could find themselves on the wrong end of a result again when they face Ralph Hassenhutl’s slick Saints this week.
Southampton’s courageous game-plan and hard-running style makes them lethal visitors, and having tasted defeat just once in their last 12 Premier League matches on the road, the Saints have enough away day momentum to force a win at Craven Cottage.
Betting Tip: Southampton to win @13/10
Arsenal vs Chelsea
With a haul of just one win from their last 10 Premier League tests, Arsenal are close to hitting rock bottom, and the misfiring Gunners are certain to be a bundle of nerves for the visit of London rivals Chelsea on Boxing Day.
The Blues moved up to fifth spot in the table with their fine 3-0 derby win over West Ham on Monday evening, and Frank Lampard’s charges will be smelling blood again when they cross the capital to take on Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.
Betting Tip: Chelsea to win @10/11
Manchester City vs Newcastle United
Scoring goals has been a real problem for Man City this season, and with the Citizens looking uncharacteristically flat in the final third, a repeat of their 5-0 battering of Newcastle in July looks unlikely when the teams renew acquaintances at the Etihad Stadium on Boxing Day.
The Magpies had been conceding an average of just 1.3 goals per game before their anomalous 5-2 defeat at Leeds on December 16, and with Steve Bruce certain to deploy defenders in droves, Man City could find running up a wide margin victory a tough task.
Betting Tip: Under 3.5 goals @10/11
Sheffield United vs Everton
Sheffield United’s hard-earned point at Brighton last weekend allowed them to halt a dismal run of eight straight Premier League defeats, though the Blades’ reprieve could be short lived.
Everton will arrive at Bramall Lane with confidence to burn following a trio of superb victories over Leicester, Chelsea and Arsenal, and the in-form Toffees could prove too strong for their struggling hosts.
Betting Tip: Everton to win @3/4
