Norwich vs Everton – Sat 12th Dec – 12:45
Norwich will still be missing Matt Jarvis for their hosting of Everton on Saturday. His knee injury is going to keep him out until just after Christmas. Wes Hoolahan’s knee injury should have recovered in time for Saturday lunch time.
Everton have a number of players close to a recovery coming into this game, but the likes of Bryan Oviedo, Stephen Pienaar, Tony Hibbert, and James McCarthy are all doubtful for the clash. Tyias Browning’s knee injury is of unknown severity, whilst Phil Jagielka’s MCL knee injury is going to keep him out until the start of January.
Sunderland vs Watford – Sat 12th Dec – 15:00
Lee Cattermole will have to wait another week or so to return to the Sunderland midfield and Seb Larsson is going to have to wait another month. Steven Fletcher is also doubtful with an ankle injury, but Jermain Defoe and Wes Brown should be back in action after their hamstring and knee injuries have healed.
Joel Ekstrand is still waiting for his first Premier League appearance for Watford, and will have to wait until the start of January. Valon Behrami and Sebastian Prodl are both going to be missing for another week or so with lower leg problems.
Crystal Palace vs Southampton – Sat 12th Dec – 15:00
Bakary Sako is doubtful for Crystal Palace after suffering from a hamstring injury, but the physios are hopeful that he will be back in time to face the Southampton defence. The only other absentee for the hosts is Kwesi Appiah, who is likely to be out for the majority of the season with a serious knee injury.
Regulars on the injury list make up the majority of Southampton’s problems. Jay Rodriguez is back on the sidelines just weeks after returning from an 18 month spell on the sidelines. His ankle injury is going to keep him out until the end of January. Fraser Forster and Florin Gardos won’t be back until April after suffering serious knee injuries at the start of the season. The visitors are hopeful that Victor Wanyama will be back in action on Saturday though.
West Ham vs Stoke – Sat 12th Dec – 15:00
The attacking problems that West Ham have due to injury is really affecting their form, and they will have to suffer a bit more before it gets better. Manuel Lanzini is now expected to be out for a week or two, joining Victor Moses, Dimitri Payet, Diafra Sakho, and Enner Valencia on the sidelines. Winston Reid is also expected to miss the game with a minor hamstring problem.
Peter Odemwingie could make a return for Stoke on Saturday, but Peter Crouch is out for another few weeks with a hamstring injury and Shay Given’s knee problem looks to be keeping him out for a while yet.
Manchester City vs Swansea – Sat 12th Dec – 15:00
Manchester City will be hoping that Martin Demichelis and Sergio Aguero can recover in time to face Swansea on Saturday. The same can’t be said of Fernando, Pablo Zabaleta, Vincent Kompany, and Samir Nasri though. The first three are going to miss a week or two, whilst Nasri is expected to be frequenting the physio’s office until April with a hamstring tear.
Whoever the new Swansea manager is won’t have to deal with too many injury problems thanks to the continuing excellent work of the coaching staff. Macedo Lopes is doubtful for the clash against Manchester City, and Franck Tabanou is the only other absentee in the team.
Bournemouth vs Manchester United – Sat 12th Dec – 17:30
Bournemouth play their part in the most injury hit fixture of the weekend. They have a trio of star players in Max Gradel, Tyrone Mings, and Callum Wilson out for a long time with knee injuries. It doesn’t end there though, with Toomy Elphick, Christian Atsu, Marc Pugh, Lee Tomlin, and Adam Federici all expected to miss out. Sylvain Distin and Josh King should recover from illness and concussion respectively though.
Manchester United suffered a couple more injury concerns in their midweek game. Chris Smalling and Matteo Darmian suffered from injuries and are very doubtful for the trip to Bournemouth. They join Wayne Rooney, Marcos Rojo, Ander Herrera, Luke Shaw, Antonio Valencia, and Phil Jones on the casualty list. On the plus side Morgan Schneiderlin might have recovered in time to play.
Aston Villa vs Arsenal – Sun 13th Dec – 13:30
Leandro Bacuna, Rudy Gestede, and Carlos Sanchez are all hoping to recover in time to face Arsenal on Sunday. Micah Richards, Jordan Amavi, and Gary Gardner are all still injured for Aston Villa though.
Arsenal’s extensive injury list is still healing. Alexis Sanchez won’t be back until just after Christmas alongside Mikel Arteta. Jack Wilshere, Tomas Rosicky, and Danny Welbeck will all have to wait until the middle of January though. Santi Cazorla and Francis Coquelin are both suffering from knee injuries and won’t be back until March and February respectively.
Liverpool vs West Brom – Sun 13th Dec – 16:00
Jordan Ibe is a slight doubt for Liverpool heading into their game on Sunday, and Daniel Sturridge is also expected to miss out. Mamadhou Sakho isn’t going to be back in action until after Christmas, and he joins Joe Gomez, Danny Ings, and Jon Flanagan on the sidelines.
Ben Foster’s recovery has been pushed back until January following his ACL knee injury, and the only other casualty for West Brom is Stephene Sessegnon, who is suffering from a hamstring problem.
Tottenham Hotspur vs Newcastle – Sun 13th Dec – 16:00
Eric Dier and Moussa Dembele could both be back in action for Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, but Ryan Mason will have to wait another week or so. Alex Pritchard’s ankle injury is going to keep him out until February though.
Newcastle’s injury crisis is showing no signs of making a recovery. They have ten players out of action at the moment. Mike Williamson, Jamal Lascelles, Cheikh Tiote, and Rolando Aarons should all be back in action this month, with Ryan Taylor and Emmanuele Riviere following at the start of January. Tim Krul, Massadio Haidara, and Gabriel Obertan won’t be back until at least March though.
Leicester vs Chelsea – Mon 14th Dec – 20:00
Rickie De Laet and Matthew James are the only casualties for top of the table Leicester coming into Monday night’s game, with both expected back at the beginning of January.
Chelsea will only be without outcast striker Radamel Falcao, who’s muscular injury is keeping him out for a week or so.
