Qatar Masters predictions with 60/1, 20/1 and 30/1 golf tips

With no PGA Tour action this week following the Zozo Championship in Japan, the DP World Tour takes centre stage with the final full-field event of the 2023 season, the Qatar Masters, which will take place at Doha Golf Club.

A number of star names have won the Qatar Masters in the past including Ernie Els, Adam Scott and Sergio Garcia and while there is no one of that calibre in this field, there is plenty at stake for those teeing it up this week.

We’ve called om golf expert Joe Champion for his thoughts ahead of the event and he’s picked out three tips at 20/1, 30/1 and 60/1.

Qatar Masters predictions & betting tips

Qatar Masters best bet – Thorbjorn Olesen to win at 20/1

Doha Golf Club staged the Qatar Masters from its inception in 1998 to 2019 and returned as the host venue in 2022 following two seasons at Education City.

This wide open, wind-affected 7,466-yard par 72 affords plenty of room off the tee so straight driving is not necessarily a priority, with the links-like nature of this track asking players to find the right spots on the greens or hope to get up and down with some short-game razzledazzle.

In a competitive market, the best option from the head of the betting could be Thorbjorn Olesen.

Olesen, who is currently in the hunt to secure a PGA Tour card via his Race to Dubai finish, showed a liking for Doha when finishing third in 2014 behind Sergio Garcia, then he went one better in 2016 when finding only Branden Grace too strong.

Doha has undergone renovations in the intervening years but Olesen displayed his love for the course again when 12th last season and he arrives in rock-solid form having finished tenth in the French Open and 17th and ninth in the two Spanish events.

The Dane has seven DP World Tour wins, including in windswept venues such as Sicily,
Perth in Australia, and Scotland, where he won the Dunhill Links.

Qatar Masters each-way best bet – Ewen Ferguson each-way at 30/1

Ewen Ferguson toughed it out in difficult conditions last season to win on his course debut and the Scot has arguably become a more consistent performer this term, so there’s a chance he can mount a successful title defence.

He finished tenth alongside Olesen in France then ninth and 13th in Spain while he was also 12th in a high-class field on a modern links at the Scottish Open, so he returns to Qatar in solid form.

Qatar Masters best outsider punt – Matthew Jordan each-way at 60/1

Of those at bigger prices, links master Matthew Jordan is always worth a look at exposed courses such as this, as he showed when finishing fifth last season despite coming into the event in mediocre form.

He was 13th at the Andalucia Masters last week and he knows he needs to produce a big week if he’s to make the DP World Tour Championship field.
