The second round of Premier League fixtures takes place over the weekend and the corners and cards market has caught our eye after a few interesting stats cropped up from the opening weekend.

We’ve delved into last season’s stats too, and have come up with a 20/1 four-fold accumulator ahead of Saturday’s action.

Cards and corners predictions for Saturday

Liverpool vs Burnley

Both Teams To Receive a Card

Liverpool’s James Milner picked up a yellow card in the Reds’ season opener against Norwich, while two Clarets players were booked in their defeat to Brighton.

There were no yellow cards dished out when these two teams met last season in May but in the two previous fixtures both teams saw players pick up yellow cards.  Last season, Liverpool actually picked up the fewest bookings in the Premier League but they still averaged 1.11 cards per-game, while Burnley averaged 1.26.

Leeds vs Everton

Both Teams To Receive 2+ Cards

This is the boldest of our selections, but there is a good chance Leeds against Everton could be a fiery fixture at Elland Road on Saturday.

The hosts saw two players booked in the opening round of games and there have been at least two Leeds players booked in each of their last three competitive fixtures.

Everton also saw two players pick up yellow cards in their season opener against Southampton, and the Goodison Park club averaged comfortably over one card per-game last season at 1.42.

Aston Villa vs Newcastle

Over 10.0 Corners

Newcastle forced seven corners in their opening day defeat at home to West Ham and defended six.  There were on average 11.26 corners per-game in Newcastle’s away games last season.

Villa only forced four corners in their curtain raiser at Watford but, unsurprisingly, they did win more corners at home than they did on their travels last season and at Villa Park they averaged 6.32 per-game – the joint fourth highest total in the division.

Manchester City vs Norwich

Man City Over 7.5 Corners

Manchester City won 11 corners in their defeat at Tottenham in the opening round of games, having forced seven in the Community Shield defeat to Leicester.

City won 141 corners at home in the league last season, an average of 7.42 per-game, and in their last two games with Norwich have won 25 corners in total.

In the 2019/20 season, Norwich conceded a league-high 7.11 corners per-game on their travels in the Premier League.
