Following on from his Italy vs Spain preview, Statman Dave is back for his penultimate preview for FST this summer.

He bagged a duo of quarter-final winners with Italy to qualify and Insigne to have 3+ shots as they beat Belgium before an England win, 3+ goals for England and Harry Maguire to have 2+ shots also landed.

Finger’s crossed for more of the same on Wednesday, especially given that he’s backed England to get through!

Statman Dave’s England vs Denmark preview

With all due respect, England’s game against Ukraine always felt like it’d be in the bag as long as Gareth Southgate’s side didn’t get complacent.

Ukraine had done well to get so far but hadn’t looked convincing with any kind of regularity, The Three Lions could’ve had a bit of an off day and they’d probably have been still been okay.

Their semi-final fixture is a completely different story: Denmark are the second best attacking team in the competition by expected goals. They have a good pool of players and a system which gets the best out of them.

They have defenders who defend their box expertly, midfielders who press as much and as well as anybody and a forward line which we’ve seen can blow very decent teams away when things click. England will have to be at their best if they’re to avoid falling at the last hurdle.

Thankfully, all the evidence suggests that they will be. Having navigated the group stages with little issues but equally little excitement, the side are beginning to add some consistent final third quality to their water-tight defensive quality.

Harry Kane is gearing up for a late Golden Boot charge and, as good as Denmark have been, I’m not sure they’ve got enough to stop the Spurs striker if he really has found his top level once again.

England should have enough, but surely they cannot get to the final of a European Championship without having conceded a single goal? I think that record goes in this game, given how dangerous Denmark are in attack.

Statman Dave’s best bet: England to qualify, both teams to score, Harry Kane to score and Thomas Delaney to be booked.
