The first Grand Slam of the season is about to draw to a close with the final of the men’s singles competition taking place on Sunday and FST has already gotten off to a flying start to the year!

We put together an incredible 412,000/1 Grand Slam mega accumulator and, after Aryna Sabalenka’s win on Saturday, we have taken the first step towards a potentially humongous win.

Nine-time Australian Open champion Novak Djokovic is back in the final and takes on a hungry Stefanos Tsitsipas, who is targeting his first ever Grand Slam title.

Djokovic is unsurprisingly a short-priced favourite to win the match and land the title, so we scanned the #OddsOnThat markets available on Betfair and Paddy Power and picked out three that could be worthy of interest.

Novak Djokovic to win & over 36.5 Total Match Games @ 13/10

While Tsitsipas loves playing in Melbourne, there is no one more experienced on these courts in the men’s singles draw than Djokovic.

Djokovic is targeting a record tenth Australian Open title on Sunday and has not lost at the Melbourne major since 2018, so will take some stopping.

Despite dealing with a nagging hamstring injury in the early rounds, Djokovic has looked pretty irrepressible at this year’s Australian Open and has dropped only one set on his way to the final.

He should capitalise on his added experience in this contest but this will be his toughest test yet in the tournament and Tsitsipas will not go down without a fight.

He took Djokovic to five sets in their only previous meeting in a Grand Slam final at the 2021 French Open and two of his last three matches in Melbourne have featured over 36.5 games, so a Djokovic win and at least 37 games could be a value selection.

Stefanos Tsitsipas to win the first set 6-4, 7-5 or 7-6 @ 11/4

If Tsitsipas is to unsettle Djokovic, making a strong start will be paramount, otherwise the Serbian will settle into the game and make light work of the Greek.

Fortunately for Tsitsipas, he has been a strong starter in this year’s Australian Open, winning the first set in all five of his matches at the tournament, including in his toughest assignments against Jannik Sinner and Karen Khachanov.

If he wins the first set, it is unlikely to be completely dominant so a bet on the Greek to prevail 6-4, 7-5 or 7-6 in the first set could be the way to go.

Djokovic had started his semi-final with Tommy Paul on fire, leading the first set 5-1, but he took another half an hour to close the set out, eventually winning 7-5, and similar complacency would surely be punished at the start of the contest by Tsitsipas.

Novak Djokovic to win his first two service games of the match to 40 @ 9/2

Thinking along similar lines to the previous selection, those anticipating a less-than-perfect start from Djokovic may want to consider backing him to win his first two service games of the match to 40.

If Tsitsipas does start strongly by claiming the first set, it will likely be later in the set that he will break Djokovic but that does not mean he cannot make the first couple of service games uncomfortable for the Serbian.

Even though Djokovic is a different beast on the Melbourne courts and should win his opening service games, he is not renowned for firing down aces and Tsitsipas will look to unsettle him on serve as quickly and effectively as possible.
