The CJ Cup Byron Nelson and China Open tips with a 288/1 double
With some huge events on the horizon, the CJ Cup Byron Nelson marks a quiet week in the PGA Tour calendar although Jordan Spieth, who goes in search of form in his home state of Texas, does provide some star quality.
While the US season rolls on, the DP World Tour’s Asian Swing comes to a conclusion this week with the China Open, which returns to the schedule for the first time since 2019.
Racing & Football Outlook golf tipster Joe Champion has taken a look at both events to put together an each-way double which pays out at 288/1. We’ve used bet365 to slip up his tips and new customers can take advantage of their sign-up offer using the button below.

CJ Cup Byron Nelson winner prediction – Si Woo Kim at 16/1
With the Signature Wells Fargo Championship and the US PGA Championship coming up over the next fortnight, most of the PGA Tour’s big guns have opted to swerve the Byron Nelson, which takes place for the fourth straight year at TPC Craig Ranch.
Jordan Spieth, playing out of duty to the event which handed him his debut in 2010, is the favourite at 14-1. He has the ability to make those odds look generous come Sunday but his overall form makes the Texan hero an unappealing option.
With Craig Ranch’s vast fairways taking pressure off the tee shot, it’s generally been sharp approach play which has made the difference at this venue.
Only Jason Day proved too strong for Si Woo Kim last season but the South Korean didn’t put a foot wrong in his final round, carding a Sunday 63 to lose by one shot, and there’s every chance he gains compensation this time around.
Kim has quietly been enjoying a superb season, finishing in the top 30 in nine of his 11 PGA Tour starts in 2024, and his ball-striking has been typically precise. If he putts as well as he did 12 months ago he looks a certain contender.
China Open winner prediction – Tom McKibbin at 16/1
The returning China Open is back on the DP World Tour schedule at Shenzhen’s Hidden Grace Golf Club, which hosted this tournament in 2014 and 2019 under its previous moniker of Genzon Golf Club.
Tom McKibbin hasn’t had a chance to tee it up at Hidden Grace but the Northern Irishman could fall in love with a track where his power should be put to good use.
McKibbin has emerged as a star of the DP World Tour this season, chalking up form figures of 25-13-16-4-12-9-MC-7 this year with the latest effort coming in Japan last week.
It seems only a matter of time before the 21-year-old wins a second title at this level and his best effort of the season came when fourth at Doha GC, which shares the paspalum grass he’ll encounter in Shenzhen.
