With our Euro 2024 outrights covered, it’s almost time for the tournament to begin. Hosts Germany get things underway on Friday night, when they host a Scotland side dreaming of an upset.

Kai Havertz to score anytime
Havertz is carrying a lot of expectation on his shoulders this summer, but he’s already proven his appetite for big games by scoring the winner in a Champions League final.
The Arsenal forward finished the campaign well, scoring four times in their final five Premier League games of the campaign. Julian Nagelsmann has pushed him back into a false nine role and Havertz has struck in three of his last six internationals, including their final pre-tournament friendly a week ago.
Havertz should get plenty of chances with Florian Wirtz, Jamal Musiala and Toni Kroos in support of him, so back him to net in Germany’s opening game.
Toni Kroos 1+ assist
After winning the Champions League with Real Madrid, Toni Kroos could well have one of the greatest send-offs in football history having returned to the national setup for this tournament.
Kroos had an assist moments after his return to the national side in March and Nagelsmann has a lot of trust in him. So far, Germany have won all the games that Kroos has featured in and the Real midfielder supplied key assists against Bayern in the Champions League semis and Dortmund in the final.
Back him to set up a goal in Germany’s opener, especially considering his great delivery from set pieces.
Scott McTominay 1+ shots on target
Scott McTominay carried a lot of weight in Scotland’s Euro 2024 qualifying campaign, scoring an impressive seven goals from midfield. He seems like a different player when he pulls on a Scotland jersey and he had eight shots on target across his last eight competitive games.
While McTominay’s great scoring streak has faded, this Scottish side relies on their midfielders for attacking support and given the key role McTominay plays, he’s good value for a shot on target.
Joshua Kimmich to be carded
Scotland’s real strength lies on the left flank, where Kieran Tierney pushes forward from the back three to support wing-back Andy Robertson. Almost everything Scotland did well against Finland in their last game came from that side of the pitch.
That could be a concern for Germany, with Jamal Musiala unlikely to offer much help tracking back. That is likely to expose Joshua Kimmich, who was booked in their group stage exit at the World Cup in 2022.
The Bayern Munich man averaged a foul per game in the Champions League last season and he looks like a good bet for a caution given that he’ll face a lot of pressure over the course of 90 minutes.
