The Spanish national team have only just touched down in Madrid with their trophy, but with the dust settling on Euro 2024 it is already time to cast our minds to the season ahead.

We are under a month away from the return of football across Western Europe, and here is when you can expect each of the top leagues to be back on our screens.

Remember, you can find all our football accumulators here, and we will be covering many of these top fixtures on our match predictions page.

Premier League

2023/24 winners – Manchester City

Manchester City were taken to the final day of the season on their way to a fourth successive Premier League title and it all kicks off again in around a month’s time.

Friday, 16th August marks the beginning of the 2024/25 campaign as Manchester United take on Fulham, with the season due to end on Sunday, 25th May 2025.

English Football League

2023/24 winners – Leicester, Portsmouth, Stockport

Leicester, Portsmouth and Stockport were the standout trio across the English Football League last season and it’s an even shorter wait until we see the 92 EFL sides in action.

Kick-off is set to take place on Friday, 9th August with four fixtures from across the three leagues, and it will run until 3rd May, 2025.

Serie A

2023/24 winners – Inter Milan

Inter Milan were the clear stand-out side from very early on in Serie A and their quality shone through as they won the league by a 19-point margin.

The defence of their title will begin on the same weekend as the Premier League, the 17th/18th August.

La Liga

2023/24 winners – Real Madrid

Real Madrid won their 36th La Liga title last season and followed that with another Champions League triumph and the defence of their title will begin on the same weekend as the Premier League.

Strangely, La Liga kicks off on Thursday, 15th August with fixtures in Bilbao and Sevilla, with Los Blancos not in action until the Sunday evening.

Bundesliga

2023/24 winners – Bayer Leverkusen

Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen stunned Germany and Europe as they denied Bayern Munich yet another successive Bundesliga title, losing just a single competitive game all season.

Their new season begins a week after the Premier League’s return, with Borussia Monchengladbach hosting the defending champions on Friday, 23rd August.

Ligue 1

2023/24 winners – PSG

Neutrals were treated to no such shock in France as PSG romped to yet another Ligue 1 title, but they begin the post-Mbappe era this season, with the 2024/25 campaign slated for the same weekend as the Premier League, the 16th-18th August.
