Wyndham & Women's Olympics predictions with 217/1 golf double

It’s a big week in golf as the Wyndham Championship, the final tournament of the PGA Tour regular season, offers one final opportunity for those on outside the top 70 on the FedEx Cup to qualify for the playoffs which start next week.

There is action on the other side of the Atlantic, too, as the stars of the women’s game tee it up in the Olympic golf competition with a gold medal on the line.

Racing & Football Outlook golf tipster Joe Champion has taken a look at both events to put together an each-way double which pays out at 217/1. All prices come from bet365 and new customers can take advantage of their sign-up offer using the button below.

Wyndham Championship winner prediction – Billy Horschel at 22/1

It’s last-chance saloon time for those on the outside of the FedEx Cup top 70 as the PGA Tour arrives at the closing event of the regular season, the Wyndham Championship at Sedgefield Country Club.

The Wyndham has been played at Sedgefield, a tree-lined North Carolina course, since 2008 and none of the recent winners have been long off the tee – accuracy has been the route to success.

Consistent Korean Sungjae Im has a fine Sedgefield record and is a worthy favourite but it’s almost three years since he won on the PGA Tour and preference is for Billy Horschel, who makes his first appearance since a gutsy runner-up finish at the Open.

Horschel, who sits 27th in the FedEx Cup list, has posted four top-six finishes in his last seven Wyndham starts, including when fourth behind Lucas Glover last year after a run of poor form.

His 2024 results, including a title at the Corales Puntacana Championship and a share of eighth at the US PGA, make for much better reading.

Women’s Olympic competition winner prediction – Lilia Vu at 17/2

As was the case with the men’s competition, the Olympic women’s tournament takes place at Le Golf National, home of the DP World Tour’s French Open and also the scene of the 2018 Ryder Cup, won by Europe.

The Albatros Course has been shortened to a 6,374-yard par-72 for the women’s contest and while Scottie Scheffler tied the course record on Sunday, this remains a tough layout which puts a premium on accuracy.

Reigning champion Nelly Korda dominated the first few months of the LPGA season, winning six titles in seven events from January to May, but she tees it up in the Olympics with form figures of MC-MC-MC-26 from her last four tournaments.

While she’s more than capable of finding top gear, Korda might not outperform her fellow American Lilia Vu, who looks a better fit for Le Golf National.

Vu rose to stardom last season, winning the Chevron Championship and the Women’s British Open. Major success has eluded her this year but she won the Meijer LPGA Classic in June and was a runner-up at the Women’s PGA Championship the following week.

A greens-in-regulation machine and one of the most accurate drivers in this field, Vu is one of the leading medal contenders.
