The first January instalment of Champions League fixtures got underway on Tuesday evening and, hot on the heels of our 16/1 accumulator winner on Monday night, our tipsters kicked matchday 6 off in style with three big winners!
Let’s take a look at how it all happened!

22/1 BTTS & Win treble hauls in biggest winner of the day
33 goals were scored across Tuesday night’s nine Champions League fixtures, and thankfully plenty of those goals came in games tipped up in our Both Teams to Score & Win treble, including a ridiculous affair in Lisbon.
Here were our tips:
- Barcelona to win & BTTS (at Benfica)
- PSV to win & BTTS (at Red Star Belgrade)
- Stuttgart to win & BTTS (at Slovan Bratislava)
With all three games kicking off at 8pm, there was plenty to keep our eyes on as the evening unfolded, but it was hard to keep our eyes on anything but Benfica’s home meeting with Barcelona.
By half-time the Portuguese hosts were 3-1 to the good, but the game was far from over and Raphinha gave us some hope with 25 minutes to spare. However, at 3-2 with under half an hour remaining, you don’t expect what happened next.
Ronald Aruajo restored Benfica’s three-goal cushion with an own-goal, but two goals in eight minutes for the visitors stunned the hosts, before Raphinha sent the visiting crowd into raptures with a 96th-minute winner to make the score 5-4.
Elsewhere, PSV’s result never looked in doubt as they raced to a 3-0 lead at the break, with a 71st-minute goal from Cherif Ndiaye wrapping up the both teams to score leg, and only a brief few moments of panic were caused when the Serbian side pulled another back with 13 minutes to spare.
Over in Bratislava, Stuttgart were 2-0 up by the 36th minute, but we were forced to wait until the 85th minute before Slovan Bratislava got on the scoresheet, with a quick reply from the visitors putting Stuttgart two in front again to calm our fried nerves.
17/1 & 15/1 acca winners put the cherry on the cake
Our Ahead of the Curve series attempts to look a bit further into the future to try and catch some early value, and that’s exactly what our trio of experts managed this week as they landed a 17/1 treble!
Jamie Griffith tipped Barcelona to beat Benfica, Liam Flin opted for an Atletico Madrid win, and Tom McGarry pushed the boat out by backing Bologna at 11/4 against Borussia Dortmund, and it is safe to say that all three games were absolute nerve-wrackers.
We’ve already discussed the insane game in Portugal, but both Atletico Madrid and Bologna needed late comebacks to clinch three points, too.
A Julian Alvarez double, the second of which came in the 90th minute, reversed Atletico Madrid’s 1-0 deficit against Bayer Leverkusen, while Bologna netted twice in two minutes to take the lead after Sehrou Guirassy’s 15th-minute opener.
Our winners weren’t over yet, though, with a second successive accumulator win coming in at 15/1.
Once again, Barcelona were backed to win, with a Sheffield United win joining that along with both teams to score in Atletico Madrid vs Bayer Leverkusen and Club Brugge to get a point or more at home to Juventus.
In what is becoming a theme of Tuesday, Sheffield United were forced to come from behind to take the points in south Wales, with a Harrison Burrows penalty settling the scoreline at 2-1.
Julian Alvarez’s first goal brought the leg in Madrid sailing in, while Club Brugge deserved a point against Juventus after limiting the Italian giants to just five shots and 0.44 expected goals.
