Here’s how it happened:
The World Cup Double for Saturday was England to Win against Sweden and Both Teams to score in Russia vs Croatia.
First up, we needed England to continue bringing football home, by beating Sweden in the quarter finals. The game got off to a pretty poor start, as there were no real chances in the first 25 minutes. The man mountain Harry Maguire changed that on the half hour mark however, scoring an absolute bullet header to make it 1-0 to the Three Lions. Sweden held their own for a good portion of the game, but on the hour mark, Dele Alli made it 2-0 from a Jesse Lingard cross. Sweden had a few good chances later in the game, the best falling to Claesson, but they were unable to score a consolation so the game ended 2-0.
Finally, it was the hosts Russia’s turn, as they took on Croatia. We needed both teams to score inside the regulation 90 minutes. The first 25 minutes was pretty dull, but again on the half hour mark we saw the first goal of the game. It was an absolute beauty as well by Denis Cheryshev, as he curled it into the top corner from 30 yards out. Croatia were level just 8 minutes later as Kramaric heads home from a Mandzukic cross. That was how the 90 minutes ended, and it landed our 3/1 Double! The tie ended 2-2 after extra time, and Croatia ended up going through on penalties, to face England.
