Arsenal vs Manchester City – The state of play
Manchester City dropped their first points of the season last weekend in a shock defeat at Wolves but they remain in the driving seat. They are second in the table with a game in hand on top-spot holders Tottenham. Prior to that defeat, they had won six successive league games and come into this game having scored 17 goals and conceded five.
Arsenal aren’t far behind, sitting a point adrift of their opponents and holding one of the two current unbeaten records in the Premier League this season. They have scored 15 and conceded six, although they did suffer defeat in the Champions League in midweek.
Arsenal vs Manchester City – Team news
Summer signing Jurrien Timber will miss most – if not all – of the season for Arsenal but Mikel Arteta will hope to have two important players back to full fitness. Bukayo Saka is likely to be risked even if he is carrying a slight knock, although fellow doubt Gabriel Martinelli could be rested in favour of Leandro Trossard.
Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne remains on the sidelines for Manchester City, but they have no fresh injury concerns to deal with. Key midfielder Rodri is still suspended, though, and that could prove pivotal. The Cityzens’ win percentage drops from 74% to 63% when Rodri doesn’t feature.
