60/1 Cheltenham featured race acca
Champion Hurdle – Tuesday, 15th March at 3:30pm
Best bet – Honeysuckle
Honeysuckle is a short price but it is hard to look past the defending champion hurdler. The super mare is 14 from 14 over hurdles and there doesn’t seem to be a great deal of credible opposition to the Henry de Bromhead-trained eight-year-old.
Champion Chase – Wednesday, 16th March at 3:30pm
Best bet – Shishkin
Shishkin and Energumene served-up a treat when they clashed in January and Nicky Henderson’s star chaser can come out on top again. There’s a slight concern that the Ascot race may leave its mark, but Shishkin can add a Champion Chase to his Supreme Novices’ Hurdle and Arkle crowns.
Stayers’ Hurdle – Thursday, 17th March at 3:30pm
Best bet – Flooring Porter
Flooring Porter was an impressive winner of last year’s Stayers Hurdle and at the prices Gavin Cromwell’s charge looks good value to repeat the feat. Sure, the seven-year-old was turned over by Klassical Dream at Leopardstown, but Flooring Porter was unable to get to the front on that occasion and he can retain his crown under more prominent tactics.
Gold Cup – Friday, 18th March at 3:30pm
Best bet – Protektorat
It’s an open Gold Cup this year and a case can be made for plenty of the runners. It’s hard to fancy Minella Indo on this season’s form and A Plus Tard has doubts about the trip. Royale Pagaille is a big-runner if the ground comes up soft, but Protektorat was extremely impressive in the Many Clouds Chase at Aintree last time out and he looks the value play.
