The return of the English Football League whet our appetite at the weekend and now our attentions have turned to the curtain raising on the top European leagues this weekend.

La Liga is the first to kick off on Thursday evening, with the Premier League and Ligue 1 following on Friday before Serie A gets underway on Saturday afternoon.

With four leagues set to begin in the next few days, I have rounded up our top outright winner tip for each division and combined them into one tasty four-fold accumulator.

Premier League winner prediction – Arsenal at 15/8

Arsenal closed the gap at the top of the table to just two points last season and the margins were even finer in the expected goals metrics, with the Gunners trailing by a mere 1.11 expected points after gameweek 38.

With only one player over the age of 27 – 29-year-old Leandro Trossard – playing more than 1,000 Premier League minutes last season, Mikel Arteta has a young and ever-improving squad, while Manchester City have lost Julian Alvarez and four of their first-team regulars are the wrong side of 30.

This could be the season for the Gunners to end their trophy drought.

La Liga winner prediction – Atletico Madrid to win w/out Real Madrid & Barcelona at 8/11

Real Madrid are huge favourites to claim back-to-back La Liga titles, but Atletico Madrid should be more than capable of at least a bronze medal in 2024/25.

They finished fourth last season, but third-place Girona are unlikely to match last season’s heroics after losing a few of their stars, while Diego Simeone has strengthened with the likes of Julian Alvarez, Robin Le Normand, and Alexander Sorloth.

Serie A winner prediction – Juventus to win without Inter Milan at 7/4

Inter Milan decimated the competition to claim their 20th Scudetto title last term, and while no team is expected to top them this campaign, Juventus could be their closest challengers.

The Old Lady finished third last season and have replaced Max Allegri with Thiago Motta in the dugout, with the new boss taking Bologna to a top-four finish last term. They have signed Douglas Luiz and Kephren Thuram to bolster an already impressive squad, while last season’s silver medalists AC Milan have not strengthened as heavily.

Ligue 1 winner prediction – Marseille to win without PSG at 7/2

PSG are still favourites to top the charts in France, despite the departure of Kylian Mbappe, but it is Marseille who look the most likely to challenge the Parisiens.

Les Olympiens had a turbulent season last year but look in safe hands under Roberto De Zerbi, while their poor outing last year leaves them with no European football to distract them.

They have made some promising moves in the transfer market and fellow challengers Monaco lost top scorer Wissam Ben Yedder in the summer.
