England Premier League – Darwin Nunez
Darwin Nunez managed nine goals in his debut campaign but, providing he remains first choice, he could expand on that significantly in 2023/24.
Not even Erling Haaland registered higher than Nunez’s 0.93 non-penalty expected goals and assists per 90 minutes last season and he could reap the benefits of a revamped Liverpool midfield, which should offer much more creativity than in past seasons.
He scored 32 goals for Benfica in 2021/22, so clearly has the finishing ability, and it could all come together for him this term.

Spain La Liga – Robert Lewandowski
Robert Lewandowski hit 23 goals on his way to the Pichici award last season and his closest contender and 2021/22 winner – Karim Benzema – has left for Saudi Arabia.
The only player to have bettered Lewandowski’s 23-goal haul that still plies their trade in La Liga is Radamel Falcao, who managed the feat in 2011/12 and 2012/13, so matching last season’s tally should be enough to claim another top goalscorer award.
This should be no problem for the veteran given he has hit 23 league goals or more in eight of the last nine seasons.

France Ligue 1 – Alexandre Lacazette
Alexandre Lacazette came within two goals of claiming the top goalscorer award on his return to Ligue 1 last season but he’s worth another punt in the eachway market this term.
Kylian Mbappe’s future remains in major doubt and, should he depart or be frozen out of the squad, Lacazette could well claim the prize outright.
Even if Mbappe continues his domination, the Lyon forward still holds plenty of appeal. He scored 27 goals in 35 appearances last term and won this award for Lyon back in 2014/15.
He scored 27 goals that campaign, too, and has an impressive record of 104 Ligue 1 goals in his last four seasons in France. Should Mbappe leave, 10/1 odds could begin to look incredibly good value for the Frenchman.

Germany Bundesliga – Benjamin Sesko
Benjamin Sesko joins from Red Bull Salzburg, where he scored 16 goals in 30 games last season. That tally matched the leading scorers from the last Bundesliga campaign, Nkunku and Werder Bremen’s Niclas Fullkrug.
Sesko will have the creative talent behind him to match his impact in the Austrian Bundesliga. While Harry Kane is likely to blow everyone out of the water should he arrive, Sesko is a great each-way option for the golden boot at 12/1.
Leipzig’s impressive business should see them kick on this season, especially with Dortmund seemingly taking a step back. The champions should surge clear of the chasing pack, so look to Leipzig at 5/2 in the without-Bayern market.
