Arsenal were unable to hand Liverpool a second defeat of the season last weekend, with their 2-2 draw at the Emirates leaving things tight at the top of the table. The Gunners kick-off this weekend’s Premier League action with a visit to Newcastle on Saturday afternoon.
We’ve covered the game in our Newcastle vs Arsenal predictions, but I’ve taken a look at some other markets to put together a 46/1 bet builder tip for the game. Newcastle vs Arsenal Ultimate Bet Builder
Bukayo Saka to score or assist
Arsenal have relied on Bukayo Saka throughout this campaign, with the winger contributing 11 goals across all competitions. After starting the season with an assist in five straight Premier League matches, he’s been vital as both a creator and a finisher.
Saka has scored in three of his last four for the Gunners, including netting in back-to-back Premier League matches. He’s failed to score or assist in just one of his eight league appearances this term and Arsenal haven’t lost any of those eight matches.
Saka should get the better of young left-back Lewis Hall, so back him to either score or assist at St James’ Park.
Nick Pope to make 4+ saves
Newcastle tend to sit back against the league’s top sides and that usually means Nick Pope is in for a busy game. The England international made nine saves across their two meetings with Chelsea over the last week and Arsenal should keep him occupied too.
Pope has made at least four saves in seven of his last eight matches. He made four saves in Wednesday’s home meeting with Chelsea, plus five and six respectively against Man City and Tottenham in September. Back him for another four saves this weekend.
Joelinton to be carded
Newcastle midfielder Joelinton has four bookings to his name this season and he’s been walking a tightrope over the last month trying to avoid another booking. He’s gone five games without another caution, which would hand him a one-game ban. However, the Brazilian has been fortunate in that stretch as he’s committed seven fouls.
Joelinton was booked in clashes with City and Spurs on Tyneside and he had six cautions in 15 starts last season. Given how he has been racking up fouls of late, his run of games without a card could come to an end this weekend.
Kai Havertz to be carded
Arsenal’s disciplinary record has been under the microscope this season, with red cards costing them vital points in the title rice. However, Kai Havertz has somehow gone without a booking this season despite committing a foul in all of his 15 starts for club and country.
Havertz has made more fouls than any other Arsenal player and his fouls-per-game have jumped from 1.8 last term to 2.3 at this early stage of the campaign. He clearly hasn’t tidied up his game, but last season he had 14 bookings, 11 of which came in the Premier League.
Havertz should end up in the book sooner or later and given that he was cautioned at Newcastle last season, he’s well-priced to be shown a card.
