Manchester City head into this weekend under pressure, having lost each of their last three matches. While their setbacks in the Carabao Cup and the Champions League’s opening phase won’t hurt too much, spending the international break reflecting on four straight defeats would be tough to stomach.
City head to Brighton on Saturday evening and ahead of that contest I’ve picked out an 81/1 bet builder tip. Our five selections have been priced with Betfair, who have a great offer for new customers.
Brighton vs Man City Ultimate Bet Builder Tip
Phil Foden to score anytime
While City struggled in Lisbon in midweek, Phil Foden did open the scoring for the Premier League champions. The midfielder has had eight efforts on goal across his last two appearances and his record at the Amex suggests he’ll cause problems on Saturday.
Foden has scored in each of City’s last four trips to Brighton, netting six goals in that stretch. He netted twice in the first-half in their visit back in April and he’s good value to keep that fine streak going.
Danny Welbeck 1+ shots on target
With six goals to his name already, this has been a fantastic season for Danny Welbeck. The former Man United striker has recorded a shot on target in seven successive league games, while he has 13 efforts on target across 10 Premier League appearances this season.
City are clearly struggling defensively and Welbeck is well-placed to take advantage. The striker has scored four of his six goals this season at the Amex, so he’s worth backing to get at least one shot on target.
Josko Gvardiol 1+ shot on target
Left-back Josko Gvardiol has pushed forward to have a shot in 12 of his 17 City appearances this season, including each of his previous four. The defender has scored in consecutive away league games, while he has had a shot on target in his last four Premier League trips.
Gvardiol is proving to be a threat from distance as well as a strong aerial presence, so back him to have at least one shot on target at the Amex.
Georginio Rutter to make 2+ fouls
Forward Rutter is Brighton’s surprise leader in terms of fouls this season, with the striker making 15 across his last seven appearances for the Seagulls. He will be expected to press City’s defenders and deep-lying midfielders, which should see him rack up fouls.
Rutter has made multiple fouls in recent clashes with Chelsea, Tottenham, Wolves and Liverpool, so back him for a couple on Saturday.
Over 6.5 Man City corners
City have recorded at least seven corners in five of their last six games, hitting double-figures four times – including getting 18 corners in a visit to Wolves. They have won 21 corners across their last two games and they average 9.8 corners per league game this term, so back City to record at least seven corners in Saturday’s clash.
