Chelsea vs Manchester City Ultimate Bet Builder
Man City to win
Chelsea are coming into this clash buoyed by a victory over nine-man Tottenham, but the shakier moments in that success point to struggles for the Blues this week. Against 11 men, Mauricio Pochettino’s men were carved apart early on at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. While Spurs let them off the hook, this City side have easied into their best form of the campaign.
The visitors have won five in a row, crushing Bournemouth 6-1 last week. Pep Guardiola’s side have won each of their last six clashes with Chelsea, including four wins from four last term. Given that the Blues have lost eight times at Stamford Bridge in the league this term, back City to take the points.
Erling Haaland to score
Haaland’s goalscoring antics tend to fly under the radar now, with the striker making the most of playing in front of a fantastic City midfield. While the loss of Kevin De Bruyne did impact him, he’s back in his groove and capable of causing problems for Chelsea.
Haaland heads into this game having scored a brace in three of his last four matches, so back him to score on Sunday.
Bernardo Silva to make an assist
While De Bruyne is out, Silva is the standout creator in this City side. Guardiola has found a way to push him further forward in the Belgian’s absence, which has paid off. He scored twice against Bournemouth last week, but he’s popped up with assists in two of his last three Premier League trips, including one against Man United. Back him to set up a goal at the Bridge.
Cole Palmer 1+ shot on target
The former City man has really kicked on after departing the Etihad, nailing down a starting spot in this Chelsea side. The Blues looked stale going forward before Palmer broke into the side, but he’s breathed new life into their attacking play.
Palmer has scored in three of his last four games and he’s had a shot on target in five of his last seven appearances. He’ll be eager to prove a point against his former side, while the manner in which he wrestled penalty duties off Raheem Sterling shows he’s not afraid to carve out his own openings. Back him to work his former teammate Ederson.
Moises Caicedo to be carded
While Caicedo looks more settled in the Chelsea midfield, the nature of his role means he is going to get noticed by the referee. The former Brighton man has made 1.6 fouls per game in the Premier League this term, picking up two bookings. This is his toughest assignment of the campaign, especially given how Guardiola’s side move players into midfield when in possession. Back the Ecuadorian to pick up a card in this clash.
