The Bundesliga returns to our screens at 12:30pm today for a trio of bumper clashes, with the results potentially making waves at both ends of the table.

Saturday saw potentially decisive movements in the top flight as Bayer Leverkusen beat Borussia Monchengladbach to leapfrog them into 3rd place, while a win for Werder Bremen gave them hope of escaping the relegation zone. Meanwhile, Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich both won comfortably as they continued their nail biting battle for the title.

Augsburg, Mainz and Dusseldorf are all in action on Sunday as they look to add some security to their perilous positions in the Bundesliga table and, at the other end of the table, RB Leipzig hope to strengthen their title challenge and both Schalke and Cologne continue the tight race for European qualification.

FST takes a look at the betting odds for each of the three fixtures and predicts the starting lineup for each team to keep you informed ahead of kickoff. Remember to check out all our Bundesliga predictions for the latest insight on the German top flight.

12:30 – Schalke vs Augsburg

Schalke come into this match off the back of a dreadful 4-0 battering in the Ruhr derby last weekend and now haven’t won in eight Bundesliga matches. They face an Augsburg side that have lost eight of their last 10 league games, a run of form that’s seen them slip to within four points of the relegation playoff positions. Meanwhile, Schalke can return to a Europa League qualification place with a win on Sunday.

Schalke vs Augsburg odds

Schalke win: 19/20

Draw: 13/5

Augsburg win: 14/5

Schalke vs Augsburg team news and possible lineups

Talented Moroccan winger Amine Harit, who has scored six goals and provided four assists, has been ruled out for Schalke after a training injury, with on-loan defender Jean-Clair Todibo also among the casualties. Benito Raman is likely to slot into Harit’s vacated position, while the returning Ozan Kabak could take Todibo’s place.

Schalke possible lineup: Schubert – Kabak, Sane, Nastasic – Kenny, McKennie, Serdar, Oczipka – Caligiuri, Raman, Burgstaller

Schalke injury list: Harit, Mascarell, Todibo, Stambouli (doubtful)

Augsburg fans are waiting on the return of main striker Alfred Finnbogason and defender Jeffrey Gouweleeuw as they look to distance themselves from the relegation battle. Gouweleeuw is thought to be back to full fitness, but Sunday’s game is likely to come too soon for Finnbogason, leaving Florian Niederlechner to lead the line.

Augsburg possible lineup: Luthe – Framberger, Gouweleeuw, Jedvaj, Max – Khedira, Baier – Richter, Lowen, Vargas – Niederlechner

Augsburg injury list: Finnbogason, Giefer, Schieber (doubtful)

FST Predicts: Schalke to win

14:30 – Mainz vs RB Leipzig

Two sides at opposite ends of the table face off on Sunday as relegation threatened Mainz host a RB Leipzig side chasing their first ever Bundesliga title. Mainz came from two goals behind to draw at Cologne last weekend but still find themselves just four points clear of the relegation playoff positions despite their three match unbeaten streak. RB Leipzig also drew last weekend, but they are unbeaten in eight competitive matches and would move up to 3rd with a win on Sunday.

Mainz vs RB Leipzig odds

Mainz win: 11/2

Draw: 4/1

RB Leipzig win: 2/5

Mainz vs RB Leipzig team news and possible lineups

Robin Zentner is Mainz’s only injury concern after being ruled out for the season, with Florian Muller expected to take his place between the sticks. At the other end of the pitch Jean-Phillipe Mateta returns from suspension and is expected to oust Adam Szalai from the starting lineup.

Mainz possible lineup: Muller – Baku, St. Juste, Niakhate, Martin – Barreiro, Kunde – Onisiwo, Boetius, Quaison – Mateta

Mainz injury list: Zentner

Patrick Schick will hope to lead the line after starting on the bench last week, although Youssuf Poulsen could still get the nod and push Timo Werner into a more central attacking role. Star centre back Dayot Upamecano will return to the starting lineup after his suspension, leaving Ibrahima Konate on the sidelines as he tries to return to full fitness. Emil Forsberg is a doubt due to his bout of tonsillitis.

RB Leipzig possible lineup: Gulacsi – Klostermann, Upamecano, Halstenberg – Nkunku, Sabitzer, Laimer, Kampl, Angelino – Poulsen, Werner

RB Leipzig injury list: Ampadu (doubtful), Forsberg (doubtful)

FST Predicts: RB Leipzig to win

17:00 – Cologne vs Fortuna Dusseldorf

11th place Cologne looked to be cruising towards three points before letting a 2-0 lead slip at home to Mainz last weekend, but the hosts are still just four points adrift of a Europa League qualification berth and are well in with a chance of challenging after winning five of their last seven at home. Fortuna Dusseldorf’s ambitions are a little more conservative. Their draw with rock-bottom Paderborn last weekend leaves them occupying the relegation playoff spot in the Bundesliga, and their only goal this term is to bridge the four point divide between them and guaranteed safety.

Cologne vs Fortuna Dusseldorf odds

Cologne win: 8/11

Draw: 3/1

Fortuna Dusseldorf win: 16/5

Cologne vs Fortuna Dusseldorf team news and possible lineups

There are no fresh injury concerns for Cologne to deal with here, although all eyes will be on Ismail Jakobs after his asymptomatic bout of coronavirus. He’s expected to return to the team here, while the in-form Mark Uth will be hoping to continue his emphatic run of form. The Schalke owned player has scored five and assisted four in his last eight games.

Cologne possible lineup: Horn – Ehizibue, Bornauw, Leistner, Katterbach – Skhiri, Hector – Kainz, Uth, Jakobs – Cordoba

Cologne injury list: Risse

Captain Oliver Fink will return to the starting lineup after spending time on his personal life last weekend, but Kaan Ayhan will be a big miss at the back as he serves a suspension, with Mathias Jorgensen expected to deputise. Goalkeeper Zach Steffen could be sidelined for the remainder of the season, while club record signing Dawid Kownacki also remains sidelined after his knee operation.

Fortuna Dusseldorf possible lineup: Kastenmeier – Jorgensen, Hoffmann, Suttner – Zimmermann, Stoger, Morales, Berisha, Suttner – Karaman, Hennings

Fortuna Dusseldorf injury list: Ayhan, Steffen, Kownacki, Tekpetey (doubtful)

FST Predicts: Cologne to win
