11/1 Fourfold for this Weekend’s Championship Games

The Championship’s Christmas season continues, with another busy day of action ahead. There are 11 games at 3pm on Sunday, with over half of the round broadcast live in the UK. However, which games are worth focusing on during a busy day of football?

We have analysed each match in our latest football predictions, while we’re covering four Championship games in more depth here. We’ve selected tips from four of Sunday’s 3pm games in the Championship, with the combined fourfold clocking in above 11/1.

See the latest Championship games on TV in our festive fixture guide.

Birmingham vs Leeds United – Over 1.5 Leeds Goals

Sky Sports Red Button

The hosts have had issues in recent weeks, with just two points from their last three games. However, they are chasing a result here ahead of a visit to league leaders West Brom on New Years’ Day. However, they have one of the best away records in the division, which they’re aiming to extend here.

The visitors come into this clash with six victories in seven meetings with sides in the bottom half. That has us favouring them in our Birmingham vs Leeds predictions, with Birmingham winless at home to the current top six. The Blues were beaten 3-2 here by leaders West Brom, but will Leeds follow suit?

Marcelo Bielsa’s men have scored 22 times against bottom-half sides this term, while their comfortable record against them on the road could spell trouble for Birmingham. The Blues have conceded twice in back to back home games and in four of their five matches this month, so we are backing Leeds to score at least twice in this match.

Fulham vs Stoke – Home Win

Sky Sports Red Button

Fulham’s promotion ambitions took a bit of a hit in their 3-3 draw with Luton in midweek. However, striker Aleksandar Mitrovic continued his golden boot chase at pace with another goal in that clash. We’ve backed Mitrovic to score again in our Fulham vs Stoke Predictions, but can he inspire the Cottagers to a victory?

The hosts have won three of their last four home games, while they have beaten Stoke in the last four league meetings at the Cottage. The problem for the visitors is their poor away record, which could lead to their poor run at Fulham being extended this weekend.

They’ve lost eight of 10 trips to sides above them in the table, while the Potters have been beaten in five of their last six clashes. With Fulham playing well at home we see value in the hosts in this clash, so we’ve added a Fulham victory to our fourfold this weekend.

Nottingham Forest vs Wigan – Home Win

Sky Sports Red Button

Nottingham Forest have had a tough December, but they could end 2019 on a high. Sunday sees Forest hosting Wigan – the worst away side in the Championship. The Latics low goal haul on the road has us backing them to draw a blank in our Nottingham Forest vs Wigan Predictions here.

Wigan come into this clash having scored in just half of their matches on their travels this season. The Latics are meeting a Forest side who are a solid unit at the back, fresh from a 2-0 victory at the KCOM on Boxing Day. Meanwhile, Wigan saw their winless run extended to 12 matches following a draw in midweek.

The pressure is now on Wigan to beat the drop, but their terrible record on the road is holding them back. The visitors are heading here. With eight defeats from 12 on the road, it’s obvious why they are seen as outsiders for this clash. Forest should prove to be too strong for the league’s worst travelling side, so we’re backing Forest for the three points.

Preston vs Reading – Home Win

Finally, we are wrapping up our Championship selections at Deepdale. Preston are aiming to continue the league’s strongest home record by securing a victory over the Royals this week. While they’ve had some issues on the road of late, Deepdale has kept Preston in the promotion mix.

The hosts have already topped their total wins for the entire 2018/19 season, while they’re among the most lethal sides going forward. Preston have already notched 29 goals at home, having hit two or more in 12 of their 14 home matches this season. That has us backing them for another couple in our Preston vs Reading Predictions.

We expect those goals to fire Preston to another home victory. The hosts have won nine times at home this term, with a 100% record at home to teams in the Championship’s bottom half. Meanwhile, Reading are in mixed form on the road with their two away wins coming against sides below them.

With Preston in great shape at home, we see them beating Reading, so we’re making them the final leg of this Championship fourfold.
