Experts' Best Bets: 34/1 Acca for the Euro 2024 quarter-finals

Before becoming a Sports Journalist for Free Super Tips, Aaron spent three years studying Sports Journalism at the University of Sunderland while taking in the Black Cats' 'glory years' under Martin O'Neill. Now back in Northern Ireland he turns niche stats into predictions for FST, while he's one of the few people on this island who is equally comfortable at Windsor Park and the Aviva.

The quarter-finals of Euro 2024 begin on Friday, with four great clashes in prospect. The opening double-header features four of Europe’s most decorated nations, while Saturday’s matches pit together some sides that matchup quite well.

Ahead of the next round of the Euros, we’ve called our experts in to give us their best bets on the four games. Together this fourfold is priced at 34/1 with bet365, who are running a great offer for new customers!

Spain vs Germany – Spain to win Corner Match Bet at 8/11

Spain have won more corners than their opponents in all but three of their games since the last World Cup. Bizarrely, two of those were against Norway and the other one was a recent friendly against Andorra.

Luis de la Fuente’s side now seem much more focused on getting the ball out wide to their dangerous wing duo Nico Williams and Lamine Yamal than ever before.

Alvaro Morata is a good targetman and they rarely pussyfoot around at free-kicks and corners anymore with even their short corner routines designed to get the ball into the box from wide angles.

Their approach is unlikely to change against Germany, who have actually racked up two more corners than the Spanish at Euro 2024 with 31 in total.

But Germany are unlikely to dominate possession in this game with Julian Nagelsmann’s team set up to strike quickly in transition.

That is unlikely to bring them the sustained pressure that is usually associated with corner production, which is why Spain ought to finish with a higher corner count.

Portugal vs France – France to score over 1.5 goals at 13/8 with bet365

Portugal were taken to a penalty shootout by a pretty low-level Slovenia side on Monday and the Selection look to face a far stiffer task against France in Friday’s Euro 2024 quarter-final.

Roberto Martinez has a wealth of talent at his disposal, but the former Belgium boss has steadfastly refused to drop aged performers Pepe and Cristiano Ronaldo and that is likely to cost Portugal their place in Germany.

France have pace, skill and physicality throughout their side, and while Portugal have the technical capabilities to match Les Bleus, Martinez’s men may be left wanting physically.

Didier Deschamps’ side are yet to hit the high notes at Euro 2024, but they look a good bet to score two or more goals in Hamburg.

England vs Switzerland – Draw at 2/1

A tactical shake-up could be on the cards for Gareth Southgate and England but it would be disrespectful to Switzerland to assume that will tip the tie in favour of the Three Lions.

England have performed poorly throughout Euro 2024 and required a moment of magic from Jude Bellingham to see off Slovakia, who are 45th in the Fifa rankings.

So even accounting for a change of approach and formation, England could struggle against the Swiss, who have drawn with Germany and beaten Italy in this tournament.

Switzerland are unbeaten in their last eight assignments and both teams could be cautious if this match is level late on, so the draw at full-time represents terrific value at 2/1.

Netherlands vs Turkey – Cody Gakpo 2+ shots on target

Turkey conceded over three Expected Goals against Austria and that should see some opportunities fall to Gakpo as he looks to finish as Euro 2024’s top scorer. The Dutchman has scored in three of his four games at this tournament, while he’s been incredibly consistent when it comes to hitting the target with his efforts on goal.

Gakpo has seven shots on target from 11 total attempts across his four matches so far. He meets a Turkish side who have allowed 59 shots on goal against them at this tournament, the most of any team in the quarter-finals.

Gakpo is likely to get plenty of chances in this clash and given that he has the best shots-on-target percentage of any Dutch player, he’s great value for a couple of efforts on target.
