Austria vs Turkey – Austria to win at 10/11

Austria were impressive throughout the group stages, showing resilience in their narrow defeat to France before a dominant display against Poland and an end-to-end thriller against the Netherlands.

They look the real deal under Ralf Rangnick and are justified favourites against a Turkey side that needed an injury-time winner to beat the ten men of the Czech Republic last time out, not to mention their 3-0 defeat at the hands of Portugal and the host of chances they allowed minnows Georgia.

Gareth Freeman

Spain vs Georgia – Spain to win & BTTS at 12/5

Spain have been outstanding so far with three wins in as many games and they can make it four in a row against Georgia, but their run of shut-outs could come to an end.

Georgia scored in both meetings with La Roja during qualifying and are yet to draw a blank during the tournament proper. Willy Sagnol’s men are also the kind of team who will keep pushing even if they find themselves three or more down in this last 16 clash against a heavyweight opponent.

I’m still expecting a convincing Spanish win, but a consolation effort for Georgia looks the best way to get some value out of backing the clear favourites.

Romania vs Netherlands – BTTS at 6/5

The Netherlands slid to third in their group following a 3-2 loss to Austria in their final game and defensive issues have plagued them throughout the tournament so far. The Dutch conceded four times through their three games and the finished clashes with Poland and France having conceded 1.3 and 1.4 Expected Goals respectively.

Romania were surprise winners in Group E but they created chances throughout. While they failed to score against Belgium, conceding early hindered them and they still went on to create chances. The Dutch have talent going forward but despite some big names at the back, they appear too open. Both teams to score stands out at a good price in this tie

France vs Belgium – Belgium to win at 7/2

Belgium have steadied the ship since starting their Euro 2024 challenge with a 1-0 loss to Slovakia and they can announce themselves as genuine contenders by defeating France in the round of 16.

There were big pre-tournament expectations of France but they simply haven’t lived up to the billing.

Kylian Mbappe remains capable of winning games with a moment of magic but his team drew 1-1 with already-eliminated Poland on Tuesday and they look poor value odds-on shots to return to winning ways.

Belgium have kept back-to-back clean sheets and are potent enough in the final third to breach the French rearguard and secure a surprise success.

Liam Flin

Switzerland vs Italy – Switzerland to qualify at 11/10

Switzerland came minutes away from finishing top of Group A above Germany but the tournament hosts nicked a point off the Swiss in Frankfurt thanks to Niclas Fullkrug’s late strike and Murat Yakin’s side had to settle for second spot.

But Switzerland find themselves in the softer half of the draw anyway and they look value to upset defending champions Italy in the last 16.

Italy could not have left it much later to book their spot in the knockout stage, progressing thanks to a 98th-minute equaliser against Croatia and they did not exactly set Group B alight.

The Italians could have lost by three or four against Spain and conceded against minnows Albania after just 23 seconds, so there are defensive vulnerabilities there as well as a lack of attacking firepower.

Ian Wilkerson

Portugal vs Slovenia – Portugal to win to nil at 1/1

A disputed penalty may have flattered Georgia slightly, but there is little doubt they deserved to beat Portugal on Wednesday and Roberto Martinez’s side need to pick themselves up despite still finishing top of Group F.

However, they should be able to do just that, and not just because a host of changes were made before their final game.

Portugal will be charged for this one, and no one more than Cristiano Ronaldo, who has had 12 efforts on goal, more than any other player in the tournament.

He can use his frustrations as positive motivations and Slovenia may not pose much of a threat, having had just seven shots on target in the entire tournament, including a solitary effort in Tuesday’s goalless draw with England, so take Portugal to win without conceding.
